I use it to play mono records on my hi-fi system. Works as intended and vastly better than using a y cable. It does attenuate by maybe 6db at most (could be 3, I didn’t measure it) but I can live with that. Mono records sound much much better than just playing them through the stereo cartridge. So if you can’t or don’t want to spend money on a mono cartridge and your phono stage has no mono switch, this unit is a great solution.

Well built and does exactly what it's suppose to do. While this device is extremely simple with just two small resisters inside, it's an important thing to use when mixing outputs to ensure you are not causing undo stress on the source audio device's output amplifiers.

Adapter Works Perfectly!

It works ok but I don't like the fact that the jack colors are swapped from what they show in the picture. The left side is red and the right side is white. Normally, you'd have the right side red and the left side white like the product images show. I know it doesn't really matter but I would have gone with another brand if I had known.

One of the channels of my 5.1 home theater amplifier stopped working so I'm using this to run both rear speakers through a single channel (for now at least). Sound from the L and R channel now appear on both rear speakers and I haven't noticed any attenuation in volume or degradation in sound quality (I have an Anthem D2 prepro with an Anthem P5 amp so it's a pretty good system).

Well, I'm surprised and disappointed. My particular purchase does not work. Tried with multiple devices...stereo in nothing out. Pity, it looked promising. YMMV.

I have on my desktop my stereo PC speakers and also an old CRT TV that I sometimes use as a secondary monitor for watching videos on. The CRT TV has only one RCA audio input jack. I could use an audio switcher to isolate the TV, but I prefer to use my main stereo speakers at a lower volume to provide some bass. Long story short, using a Y-splitter to lead to the stereo speakers and to the TV and then another Y-splitter (after a headphone-to-RCA stereo converter) to merge the stereo channels to mono means that my PC speakers will always output mono as well. This unit keeps that merge separate from any other split on the line, so I can now enjoy the TV in mono while my PC speakers retain full stereo. Brilliant!

FINALLY, a solution for mono output from stereo mix. Looked everywhere for a way to convert stereo output from a basic DJ mixer into a mono feed to a single PA speaker for a mobile rig. Thought this would be easy, but no one seemed to have a simple answer. Sweetwater was baffled, B&H had nothing. Y-cables with adapter had horrible phase issues. Then this little thing did what no one else could do. Stereo to mono, perfect sound. Problem solved.
