Welseal HS2802 UPVC Door Letterbox/Letter Plate Midrail (40-80) - Chrome - 12-Inch

Literally fitted it today in time for Mr Postie. Went outside to admire what a good job it did to notice a mark - tI look more closely and can see that the chrome plating is flaking off. Terribly in fact. I will be sending it straight back but what an earth do I do without a letterbox in the meantime?!

Initially I was pleased with my purchase as it all went together well and the quality wasnt bad for the price...... However; It’s been fitted for around two months now and I've noticed the chrome plating deteriorating quite badly already. It appears to be corroding evenly all over the surface not just at the edges. It looks worse than the one I replaced that had been there for years. The quality of the chrome plate on this product is not fit for purpose. Buy if you don’t care how your letter box looks but don’t go near it if you like a nice shiny letter box like I would.What really annoys me is that I put a bead of silicone sealant around the plastic bezel to make it totally weather tight. I’ll now have to peel that all off when I buy a proper replacement.

Been on the door a week now and seems pretty good. Other reviews show it weathering quickly so time will tell. Mine is fine so far and it's had some pretty typical British autumn weather thrown at it. I'll update if it goes wrong in any way. Loses a star as it's not clear enough that this is designed to fit in a mid rail of a door and not within a panel. It is in the details when you look but not in heading. 5 minutes with a hacksaw sorted that out though.

Plastic is weak cracked on instalation before I even put the screws in. Screws far too long for the item had to use shorter ones for a tighter fit only reason it's still on after 5 minutes is because I had to snap the old one off or it would be going straight back to the seller

Looks ok but what a faff!!!Screws appear to be too big, screwing them in was a nightmare! Gave up in the end as it was impossible! Ended up changing screws so they were slighly smaller. Screwed together much better and now fully secure.Time will tell on the weathering of the letter plate.

This is rubbish do not buy. It arrived in flimsy plastic wrap no instructions at all, not even a paper template so you can cut your hole to the right size. It does come with two screws, but they are totally useless as they are too short. If I could put 0 stars I would. Avoid like the plague

Bought to replace my last one that an amazon driver broke a few days earlier, bodged back on and left without telling me. Comes with two screws that are far too long and totally unsuitable for the job even if they weren't. Put it on anyway as it's this or nothing, will get another less junk one later

Old letterbox flap broke and needed a replacement. This one did the job and even kept the draught out. My door was seemingly deeper than regular doors so I needed longer screws to fasten the two halves together. All in all it is a good product.
