Fish Mate Automatic Pond and Aquarium Fish Feeder (P21) - Suitable for All Food Types, Serves Up to 21 Meals

Used this when I went on vacation and it worked a treat, keeping the fish in my pond fed regularly.

Still not quite sure about this. I have had it for a week now and have it indoors testing it. Having got the timing correct and the amount of feed. It only seems to release 1 feed a day. However that suits me as my fish are used to only being fed once a day. I am waiting for someone to cement a post into the surround of the pond and have purchased a large hanging basket hook which will hang out over the pond. Hope it works.

The limitation is that it only does one feed (over several hours) a day. It is also a bit complicated in getting the right amount of food dispensed, this is because of the variation in pellet sizes etc. One has to do a fair bit of trial and error before leaving it to do its job. This is essential if you don’t want your fish to starve of be over fed! However when you look at the cost compared to more sophisticated systems it is good value for money. If like me you normally feed direct and only need a feeder when going away for a few days, or a week or two its fine. I was away for two weeks and it was still working okay when I came back. Obviously if you have expensive fish, or you are away regularly, you may need something more sophisticated. I did also use a bottom feeding tablet just to be on the safe side but it was probably unnecessary in the end.

This gadget is much bigger than I anticipated and looks ugly when installed hanging over the pond. It is difficult to check whether it works as mine seems to do all the feeding at night. I anticipated using it all the time but will only use it when I'm away from home.

Test it first over a bowl to get the setting right before putting in place. Works well. I used for a fish pond for gold fish. Went on holiday for two weeks. Fish ok was empty.

This is where the star system is inadequate as when I give one star I am told "I hate it". I don't hate it, I am sure it is fine for what it is. However I feel let down as the product is simply not as described; it is much much smaller. This is a great pity, as in general my internet purchases exceed expectation.The description indicates the product is 30.5 x 10.2 x 25.4, and weighs 780g. These are precisely the shipping measurements and weight, even though shipping weight is stated to be 1.5kg. In fact the product itself is 18.5 x 8.8 x 16.4, making it one-third of the size I was expecting in terms of volume, and weighs 450g. I have wasted my time as this feeder is not adequate for what I want. Please, dear vendor, correct your description, and a bit more information on the feeder's hopper capacity would be helpful to purchasers. I don't have the means to measure it accurately, but I would put it at about 25cl. This represents about two days for me, and If I had known that I needn't have bothered with it.
