Phosphates are extremely harmful to bodies of water and are banned in laundry detergent in many states -- approved only for special use detergents that are used in limited settings. We have an entire lake dead nearby. People can't even go boating on top of the water because of phosphate runoff from laundry and lawn fertilizer from summer homes on the lake. That's led to a situation where neurotoxins are released from dying algae after it overruns everything and blocks other life forms. People get bad headaches if they try to head out for some summer fun. The process is called eutrophication.

Cloth diapering in very hard water area. Been using Calgon and Charlie's detergent. What would make Charlie's booster better than Calgon?

After severe burns with my last cloth diapered twin babies, I no longer use Charlie's detergent. I feel the booster is top notch though. And, I have 15 grain, 250+ hardness, 9.5 ph well water. Calgon is not enough of a water softener for our water.

does it work in dishwashers

Funny that you ask that. It doesn't say anything on the container about using it in the dishwasher, but we have horrendously hard water, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I did notice that it helps to remove mineral deposits from the dishwasher. I also noticed that I had less spotting on my glassware. I also use a liquid product like Jet Dry that's supposed to prevent spotting, but the Charlie's product seems to beef up the performance of the Jet Dry or Cascade Rinse Aid. I use the measuring spoon that comes in the package.

This product is causing pilling on my fabrics. Anyone experience this? Is there a fix?

I have not experienced that. Not sure why "pilling" would be caused by the Booster. It is very water soluble. Usually cloth "pilling" is caused by fabric rubbing against fabric. Our water is classified as moderately hard. I have stopped using the Booster, even though our water is moderately hard. The screens for the water pump in my washer became clogged up with a white colored precipitate. The precipitate was so massive, and hard, I had to replace the complete pump & housing. I had never experienced that until I started using the Booster. I took the approach that the apparent control in that incident was my use of the Booster. I stopped using the booster three months ago. Checked the pump housing about a week ago. No precipitate was observed.

Must-have with hard water

This is a must if you have hard water! All the products are legit! It has no scent so it is clean to use on children’s clothes. Colors keep well!

Removes the laundry product residue and allergens from clothes and linens

I find that laundry boosters improve the efficiency of my (not very) high efficiency washer. Clothes and linens come out cleaner and softer; smell fresher without adding scent. Charlie's Soap Booster is the best product I have found for this purpose. it works exactly as advertised. At present I use 1 scoop per wash; I will probably reduce that to 1/2 scoop after all washables have been through one or 2 cycles with a full scoop and residues have been removed, including allergens from previous laundry products.

Sticky laundry no matter what you do? Charlie's Booster and Charlie's Soap WORKS!

I have been struggling with sticky towels and laundry no matter what I do. I have horrible hard water. Tried more soap/detergent, less soap/detergent, did the tub clean over and over, did wash with 3 extra rinses... Never used fabric softener. Tried vinegar on and on and on... UNTIL Charlie's Soap used WITH Charlie's Booster... I have an HE front loader... Followed directions for first use... (might take 2-3 washes initially to get residue out of laundry) IMPORTANT. Then did towels - washed twice per first use instructions... Amazing. And I only did the wash cycle without the extra rinses. What captured my interest about Charlie's Soap is the selling point of how well it rinses... coupled with the Charlie's Booster. It only took 2 washes with only 1 rinse (compared to the 3 extra rinses I used to use). So instead of each load taking 2 or more hours... it's down to 35 minutes. So saving electricity as well as time and water. Laundry is soft. Stickiness GONE!

Great Addition to Laundry Routine

Seems to help make my clothes cleaner

One of my regular subscriptions. I feel like this helps my clothes get cleaner, especially since I have hard water in my house, but honestly haven’t really been able to prove one way or another. But it makes me feel better to add a scoop of this to every load of laundry since it’s easy enough to do.This laundry booster doesn’t have any fragrance and adding it doesn’t irritate my son’s eczema-prone skin. So I’ll continue to use it unless I feel like it really doesn’t work.
