Q: Are these scraps suitable for making strops to sharpen blades?

The majority of the material I received was garment weight like pants or shirts. The upholstery scraps would be better weight for sharpening blades.

Q: Could this leather be crafted into armor?

This is a 2-3 ounce leather, it is not stiff. You would have to put a backing on it. I do have full hides of a heavier leather that would probably be more suitable. Is the armor for re-inacting costumes? You can call me 608-362-3982

Upholstery leather roughly averages between 1/16 to 3/32 inch thick

Q: Are the scraps suitable to make small handbags with? Or are the pieces to small?

The pieces are a little small to make handbags however you might get one to two wallets out of them and then lots of little other stuff for little projects
