The Gambit For World Domination
A gruesome terrorist attack destroys a town in New Mexico, leaving thousands dead and survivors facing agonizing death. The clues to the criminals lead to Iran, but there is a trail hidden under layers of deception which is a path to the evil mastermind. And as war draws near, special operative Sam Fisher is in the ultimate race against time to uncover the truth. In the third book in a series based on Ubisoft's game - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - author David Michaels brings a healthy dose of slowly devoloping scenes, which is necessary for a character who operates as a phantom within the shadows of government.Fisher - a member of the elite Third Echelon organization - uses cutting-edge technology and classic spy techniques as the rugged trail takes him to numerous nations, with bad guys even popping up in swanky hotel in the Emirate of Dubai.Michaels delivers a winner by finally offering the reader an overt exploration into the covert aspect of Fisher's work; on land, sea and in the air.

Fast paced thriller
There's a lot of criticism of the spinoff books that have Clancy's name writ large on the cover but actually written by someone else. This book does not deserve that criticism. It is fast paced and riveting. I can't recall a single time when the plot dragged. Hero Sam Fisher does have incredible stamina, seemingly staying in the peak of mission readiness for days on end, and he does have incredible toys, but the suspension of disbelief is not as great as required for other books of the genre. Like others, my major criticism is the number of typographical and grammatical errors. While they are scattered throughout, the last 100 pages there are an inordinate number. It's like it went to press before the job was finished. Still, this is a book I would recommend with only that single reservation. A cut above most entries in this genre.

This book has all the right moves, wrists and turns and believability!
Sam has sold his condo and move to the country where his closest neighbor is a half-mile away. This story begins with a mysterious ship heading toward the west coast of the US with a nuclear heat signature. Simultaneously in a town called Slipstone, people are dying at a rapid rate after ingesting radioactive drinking water. Sam is at every event. This is another book in this series which is hard to put down!

Poor character development
This book just goes from one location to another to another and so on... Dialogue exchanges are plain. Sam Fisher (I love the character) seems almost invincible, like he's playing on God mode or something.I am a huge Splinter Cell fan. Started with the video games. LOVED Conviction on Xbox 360 and I'm really just reading to try and see what that novel is like. But this book was just generic and all over the place. It never really dived deep into what makes Sam Fisher who he is. Doesn't really let you into his mind. Not sure if this book plays an important role in the overall story of Splinter Cell but if I knew that I can skip it, I would have.

Fun ride
Fun ride but not better than the last 2 books. Overall I would still recommend for fans of the books and games.

A race in time
It moved rapidly and I was caught up in the tale as soon as the first chapter. It isn't Tom Clancy, but the ins and outs are similar and keeps you guessing whether or not the problems will be solved. I enjoyed the book.

Not bad - I guess I'll go for the next episode
The book is like playing the game with the only difference that you do not have to struggle to play the same part over and over again until you succeed. The plot is interesting. Starts well, then becomes a bit boring in the middle (having Sam brake into every place becomes a bit repetitive). Then the ending is good again. The annoying part of this book I found is the editing of it - too many typos. All the "the the" and so for 100s of times.A good read - give it a try - you may also like it.

Good read for sam fisher fans.
This was a fantastic read from start to finish as i couldn't put the book down once I'd picked it up. Being a massive fan of the splinter cell series and clocking up many hours of gameplay reading the book was like playing the game with intense moments and gripping situations sam faces making you want to read another chapter. Excellent read in my opinion if you like the splinter cell series.

Thoroughly hated it, never finished it
Out of all of the books I have read, never have I been less entertained. I don't always read books based on the literate quality, but this takes it a step too far. I was engaged in the story and not sure if I reached a hundred pages. Much preferred the previous 2.
