The Askcable 12 Gauge Wire is excellent quality and worked perfectly for my electrical and wiring projects. I've been studying solar energy for about a year now, and it's really a fascinating bit of technology that everyone should get into. Much of the issues come from making all the needed connections. I'm not an electrical engineer, and I won't act like one here. But basically when you're choosing wire for your solar projects it's important to consider the amperage passing through the wire, and the durability of the coating. Okay, all that said... I would NOT recommend using this wire for very long connections, or for exposure to sun. It will likely break down. As this is copper-coated aluminum (look for CCA on any of your wire purchases) it might not be suitable for you personally, though it will work fine as long as your connections are secure and again, consider the amps. So while it's not really advertised as "solar" wire, for simple projects or short connections out of the weather (personally, I'd not go beyond 30 inches), this might be just the thing to help you with your solar projects. It's easy to strip, the right size for small PWM charge controllers, and somewhat flexible. I like that it's connected, so you only have to pull apart enough to strip and make your connections. A word of caution/advice: If you need to make long connections (RV roof to storage compartment, etc) I very much suggest you use wire intended for solar; at least 10 AWG. But as already noted, for short connections, low amperage use (under 20; I'd not go beyond 15), and with the positive line fused, you can make reasonable use of this wire.
