Origins 5-in-1 Dog Supplement - Powdered Food Topper w/Natural Heirloom Pork Protein- Supports Healthy Digestion, Skin, and Coat - Helps Reduce Itching & Joint Inflammation (2 lbs)

We have an 8.5-year-old lab mix who has had three leg surgeries and suffers from chronic arthritis in her back and legs. We also have a 4-year-old basset mix--a breed that is known for developing joint problems as they age, though we haven't experienced that yet. Neither of them suffers from allergies or problematic skin conditions. One of them--the lab mix--is a SUPER picky eater. I decided to try this product 1) as a joint supplement, 2) for gut health (prebiotics, probiotics), 3) as a general supplement to promote overall good health (omegas, etc.), and 4) because I trust this brand. We've been adding it to our basset's food twice a day for the past nine months and to our lab's food for the past three months. First, neither dog has experienced any problems as a result of introducing this product to their diet--i.e.; no vomiting, diarrhea, hives, or other adverse reaction. Second, I do not find the product's odor offensive. Yes, there is an odor; it just doesn't bother me at all, and I was surprised to read complaints about it in these reviews. Third, the taste does not bother my dogs, which is saying a lot. Previously, I have found no product made by any manufacturer and recommended for any reason that my lab would tolerate in her food. We have tried SO MANY supplements and therapeutic treats recommended by our vet, all of which supposedly passed rigorous taste tests, but our girl wouldn't get near them. She won't even eat a treat that is not pure meat. Yet she will allow me to mix a heaping tablespoon of this powder with water in her food twice a day and will snarf it down. In fact, since I started adding this powder to her food, she is eating on her own, instead of making me spoon feed her. That aspect of this product is nothing short of miraculous for us! (My basset mix will eat pretty much anything, so I don't use him as a measure of good taste.) Most importantly, since we started the lab on this supplement a few months ago, we are seeing a noticeable improvement in her mobility. Even though we have moved into the cold months, which are typically quite painful for her, she is limping far less--often not at all--and playing much more and longer with her younger brother. I'm not saying that she's problem or pain free, but she does seem noticeably more comfortable, and, given her history and age, I think that's the best for which we can hope. Otherwise, both dogs are healthy and happy. Our basset had his annual exam six months after he started on this supplement, and his blood-work came back "perfect". Can't ask for better than that! I will continue this powder and will recommend it to others as a healthy, palatable food supplement for lucky dogs.

My dogs absolutely love this and their coats are beautiful. It is definitely a strong smell but pups love it! I add warm water and mix in to their dry food.

Smells gross but dogs love it, works great & helps with gut issues & balance.

Have been using the fish food topper for about 3 weeks and his coat is shiny. Less dandruff and it appears to be helping his allergies from flaring up. It does stink like fish, the powder is messy but he almost refuses to eat until I add the topper, water and stir it all up with his food. I just ordered another package.The packaging needs some work. The resealable closure does not stay closed at all. I finally dumped the contents of the bag into an empty coffee can. Highly suggest to the manufacturer to put the powder in a coffee can style container for ease of use. Also instructions mention a scoop however no scoop was included.

My dogs love when i sprinkle this on there food, I do wish the bag was easier to keep closed, the ziplock is a little tricky but I'm glad my dogs are nice and healthy and have a nice looking coat.

I have 2 dogs, one with severe allergies and cancer, and the other with digestive issues among other issues. I have been using this for a year and I would never not use it. It has helped both my fuzz buckets in so many ways. Soft shiny coats, no more stinky farts, less allergic reactions,more energy and playfulness. I would give it 20 stars. I suggest coupling it with pumpkin topper as well, as most pet foods do not have enough fiber, this has helped with loose stool.

My one dog loves it, other just tolerates. Smell is very strong like menhayden fish so all long as your dog likes that smell you have a great product.

My golden in the summer gets allergies which was mainly why I tried this. This does seem to be getting better even though I'm still working up to his full dose. An expected improvement is with the summer heat. We normally scale down his walk and or do multiple rests and stay in mostly shade. He had has fur trimmed as usually with not much difference to how well he handles the heat. Since I've started with this we are back to our normal length walks. Yesterday was 80+- which would be a short walk or walking in the water/swimming. I didn't even think about it until after but we did just about our normal walk. Not only that but I stopped him not the other way for water and rests. Which were much much shorter than usual. His digestion seems better as well so far after a week. I'll know better on that when there's more time to see if it's a coincidence or not. Really likes the fish as well.

This product works great for my dog. She was taking Apoquel for seasonal allergies in the spring and fall because she would scratch and chew at herself a lot (nothing too major - no hot spots or rashes from it but it still bothered her most of the day). I bought this on recommendation from a dog group on Facebook and thought I would give it a shot. It helps a lot. It doesn't reduce the itching to nothing but it definitely makes a difference. I'm very happy there is now a 5lb bag option with a much more affordable price - hoping this option isn't temporary!

Best price we could find for this product, quick delivery. Our last resort as vets couldn’t prescribe anything strong enough for our puppy to help with his allergies.

My cat loves this. Yes it does look pricey but the bag lasts long. And his stool looks great and his dandruffs are gone. Most importantly, he loves the taste of it so he doesn’t refuse to eat his food when I mix it. It got so much easier for me to feed him wet food. More water intakes made him more healthy as well. I’ll never go back to other supplements.
