This brand has a lot different iron supplements. How do you know which to get?

This one, Now Iron 18 mg, 120 Veg Capsules is the one I always buy.  I have low iron and this keeps me up to par.  The veggie capsule is a real plus.  My doctor said to take it with vitamin c.

Debra's simple math is missing the context of the question, especially given her suggestion to overdose on the product, which you never want to do for long with minerals or fat-soluble vitamins. The main takeaway is that due to increased bioavailability in the gut, they are equivalent in terms of the amount of iron your body will absorb. The 65 mg of elemental iron in ferrous sulfate are equivalent to the 18 mg of iron in ferrochel bisglycinate.

This product, while more expensive than ferrous sulfate, is intended for those who have sensitive stomachs or who have malabsorption issues. Among folks who would use this product this is most of us though; since healthy people, particularly the beef, bean and green eaters, and the non-bleeders, do not need extra iron.

How much extra does someone with malabsorption need? There's only one answer and that's: Its highly variable. But whenever you go beyond the RDA dose you should consult medical (not Amazon answers) and also not plan on staying at that dose for long. Real food is always the answer. Supplements and drugs are to fix things, not maintain them. Remember that.

No. Now Iron is a gentle free iron, not bound to non- metallic ions. It does not cause constipation and is gentle on a sensitive stomach. I have taken this iron pills for several years without any problems. I highly recommend them.
