Worth, every penny! This thing works phenomenally!
I bought this air conditioner when our whole house air conditioner broke last summer. The new air conditioners use a pathetic refrigerant that doesn’t work nearly as good as the old stuff. So my back bedroom will not cool off. This portable air conditioner is amazing. It makes my bedroom ice cold. If you have an apartment, or a room, living room, anywhere in your house that doesn’t cool off, this thing blows with gail force winds. It can also run as a dehumidifier, but that basically just means the air conditioner compressor is turned on, so it blows cold air. The remote control is awesome because you can turn it on or off or change temperatures right from your bed or couch. I cannot say enough about it. It is very easy to set up. Just make sure you read the instructions. When you go to screw the tube onto the connector, make sure you go counterclockwise like the instruction say. I’ve bought extra panels to block off a sliding glass door that is 96 inches high. Then I bought some window ceiling foam, stuck it all around the edges and it seals my sliding door up pretty well. In Reno, Nevada it can get 106° but I am completely comfortable with this air conditioner. It’s awesome!

Quiet and efficient
Works perfect. Actually turned right around and bought a second one. You will too!Guess I'm reviewing this one twice because it worked that well.

Better than I expected.
I rated it 4 stars because 5 to me is perfect. This is a very thorough and accurate review. It works pretty well for my renovated attic apartment which can get over 100 degrees F. You can’t compare to everyone’s experience because it depends on what floor you’re on, is the sun beating on your roof all day, how high your ceilings are, did you get the right size, is it hitting your a/c and how humid your environment is. My living room and windowless kitchen are getting full day sun beating on the roof and my inside humidity can get up to a sweltering 80.Get a thermostat that has temperature, humidity, date, time and history because I’ve found that when the indoor humidity starts creeping near 50 and the temperature is about 80 F the dehumidifier mode works well and it still puts out cool air. Today inside is 80 deg and 57 humidity and I’m comfortable in my living room which has an open stairwell and around 250 square feet open through a standard door to a long kitchen that has no window and has a back stairwell. I can’t expect that it will cool another 300 feet but the living room stays comfortable but it will run all day with the open door. You should wait 24 hours after instillation for all kinds of a/c’s before you use cool mode. The refrigerant gets sloshed around and it needs to settle and so it may not cool well. It’s bottom heavy and I had to turn it sideways to get it out of the very well-packed box. Better for two people to carry. Test the fan only mode until 24 hours have passed or else you might be disappointed.PROS:If the cool mode air hits me I get too cold. All a/c’s high fan are loud but since there is no ECO mode you don’t get the loud compressor sounds like on a window unit. Low fan is quieter-it’s white noise. I’m not sure how it sounds to the people below me but I put it the foam panels in the packing or some type of cushion that may help any floor vibrating. Just make sure it’s steady and won’t fall over. The dehumidifier works because it filled a standard bucket more than half way with water. I don’t leave any kind of a/c on if I’m gone for more than 2 hours. It would be good to cut the hose that goes in the upper plug so it won’t get submerged in the water and cause an air lock. In cool mode you do not use the hose. This is simple to do. On this mode it controls the temperature and fan.The air direction is easier to control as you want it.I have smaller than standard windows which you should not put window units in and because the hose outlet is within the screen, you won’t get bugs coming in. Lots of dead bugs in my bedroom window unit. It’s simple. I don’t want all that Wi-fi, smart stuff-just more to go wrong and a good and right sized a/c should cool pretty quickly.CONS:You need a plug quite close to the window. The cord is 6 ft. If it’s not that close you won’t be able to move the unit out 6 ft. My unit is 2 ft from the window. Don’t block the back air vents with your bucket or whatever.Get a roll of white duct tape. The hose is a hard plastic and is too hard to screw into the plastic pieces and stay put. So I taped them on each end and make sure there’s no leak. You want to keep an eye on the tape since heat can loosen it. That needs to be improved. The window panel is off-white and my windows are white and the unit is white. Why not match the bright white? I ordered panels from another company to fit in my window and they are white with a round hole. Had to cut the panel anyway but I prefer the standard round hole so I am not using the panel and the oblong piece included. I had to tape the panel all around my panel so it’s not beautiful. Make sure to seal up any crack and put a strip of foam in the crack where the window lock is.In cool mode eventually the water pan at the bottom gets too full and you get a Ft code and need to drain it from the very bottom plug. (Not the upper one where you put the dehumidifier hose into.) It’s so low that you can’t put anything under it and have to lift the unit onto something solid like a stool and then you should tip it a little to get all the water out. The unit is heavy but I can do it.The hose set-up isn’t great-looking but the unit isn’t that big and has a clean look. The remote control feels cheaply compared to others. The box says Made In China in big letters, some of the manual language is a little off but what I said above is all you do.I do not regret buying this because it works. My aim is to open my bedroom door with the 6000 BTU unit and between both try to get the kitchen at a tolerable temperature. Hopefully it will last long.

I'm impressed - Powerful little unit!
When I received this unit, I wasn't sure what to expect. Our upstairs (3 rooms and 1 bathroom - approx 950sq ft) A/C had gone out, and I hopped online and ordered this one. This was pre-emptive since the last time the upstairs central unit went, I had to wait a few days for someone to come out, and a few more for the part. I'm so happy I ordered. I set the portable unit up in one of the smaller rooms, and pointed it towards the doorway (all 3 room entrances are on the landing - no hallway) - with approx 8 feet from front of unit to doorway - and put a fan (tall/slimline fans) in the doorway of each of the other rooms to suck the cold air from the first room and push it into the others. The thermostat is in the largest room of the 3, and while it shows 1-2 degrees higher than what I set the A/C to (70-74), it's definitely cooling the whole upstairs. I do have the continuous drain hose running out the back (from the center drain - not the bottom) to a 3 gal bucket, which I have been emptying a few times a day manually (first 24 hours was more like every 2 hours), as humidity here is brutal. I do have a working downstairs A/C unit, but it doesn't help the upstairs at all - it was 88 on the upstairs thermostat the day it went out (and 70 downstairs). I originally set the unit to 74, then when it started shutting off, set it to 72, and when it started shutting off again, I dropped it to 70 - where it still shuts off occasionally. I still haven't had the upstairs unit repaired - and quite frankly, I'm in no hurry as this A/C has kept things very comfortable.Instructions are easy to follow - the exhaust system (hose and window fitting) sealed very well (once i had the hose screwed in ALL the way on both ends - at first, there was a lot of hot air coming out and I thought I was going to need duct tape, but once I redid the hose at both ends properly, I had really good seals with no exhaust heat escapage). The plastic piece in the window fit well with no air seepage, either. It did take me a few hours to realize I didn't have it right at first, but once I fixed it, the temp started to really drop. I did not need any tools/tapes/etc outside of what came with it short of the 3 gal bucket. I'll update this review at a later time if need be, but for what I bought it for (temp measure to keep cool while central A/C unit was on the fritz), it's done an amazing job.
