I am a professional plumber and this tool works great to remove seats that are in shower valve bodies. If you're a plumber I would recommend these, if you're a DIY guy I would highly recommend these

If the middle diverter is in the way when you try to remove seat from hot or cold seat with the old L shaped tool, then this is the ideal tool. I found it quite difficult to screw in a seat when the L shaped tool kept knocking against the middle diverter knob. I say this tool is superior and everyone doing this work should have it in their toolbox.

If you’re changing out a shower valve, there’s a little thing behind it called a valve seat. This tool removes it. If the valve seat is really old and falling apart you might need an extractor, too. (Different tool.)

The plastic wrench is trash but the steat wrenches work great

I've been using a set of seat removal wrenches that are L shaped for some time. Always struggled getting them into position and it's a pain to turn it so far, remove the wrench, reseat it and continue to tighten/loosen the valve seat. The Chumia's are rachet so you don't have to remove the working end of the wrench while tightening or loosening. The tool is long enough to avoid the shower diverter and gives you a better feel for pulling the old seat out and slipping the new one in place. Go with this design and let the L shaped versions fade into the sunset.
