Changed my life
I had only had a 2 port bracket on the back of my computer. Well it was 4, but I used 2 of them in an attempt to make a front port. That was successful, but I already had 2 front ports, and 2 more was excessive as I only use 1 front port at any time. So, the years went by, and I only had a total of 8 rear ports, 6 on the motherboard, and 2 on the slot bracket. I really needed 10. I had to get a 7 port hub and even that was filled up. So, there was a dire need for 2 more ports, and I couldn't fill that need. I had to do some cord swapping sometimes. It has been the lowest point of my life in a long time. I often cried myself to sleep over the shortage of USB ports I had in the back of my computer. Much time and concern was diverted to solving this. "How?", I would ask myself. It was a rhetorical question as I did not have an answer. So, upon browsing for a possible new motherboard, a solution presented itself. People who had purchased the board had also gotten something from a "Star Tech." My first though was this sounds expensive, and someone of my means really can't be squandering their income on something like this. I mean the little thumbnail looked like a 4 eyed robot head with 2 antennas...were the blue things on the end lasers? Fitting for something made by Star Tech, I thought to myself. Well, curiosity got the best of me, and I looked at the product...the price was too low for what I thought...how could something that sounds this cool be that cheap? So, I clicked it. I immediately saw the need I had for a device like this. No more swapping ports, at least for a while. So, I bought it...this was the only device of its type with Prime. It arrived 2 days later; Amazon did meet its contractual obligations there. It came in a anti-static bag...high tech indeed...fitting of the name of its creator...Star Tech! So, I removed it from its bag, got out a screwdriver, and put it in my computer. It fit right into the 2 ports on my motherboard...so now I have the maximum number of USB 2.0 ports my board can support fully enumerated with ports...twelve! As another dirty secret, I have 4 more USB 3.0 ports...so that's 16! Whoa. Anyway, this device accepted all my USB doodads just fine. The wires are of sufficient length...more than sufficient really...so no worries there. Anyway, this solved a large problem for me. If you have something like this and feel the need to make more front ports like I did...STOP. THINK. Do you need more ports or not? I only use it for a joystick and a flash drive...actually I got an extension cord and put the joystick in the back, because of the 2 extra ports I have there (thanks Star Tech!)...so only a flash drive. So...no need for more front ports. Recommended.

All Ports Work As Expected
All USB ports work at 2.0 spec as advertised. They even work in 9-pin hubs, which is excellent. The cables are fairly short. They're long enough if the adapter is installed in a lower PCI slot and connects directly to motherboard headers. If it is mounted in a top slot and needs to go around a GPU, or two in my case, they will not reach any headers nor adapters. Thankfully, extension cables are cheap.

If your computer motherboard has extra USB headers, this is great!
I was looking through various PCI-E x1 cards, looking for a way to add more USB processing power to my computer. Even though USB 3 and all its variations has now been around for several years, the bulk of what I have is USB 2.0. I have found some audio interfaces with USB 2.0 don't play nicely when mixed through a hub containing USB 2.0 and USB 3 devices. I was out of USB ports and one USB 3 hub is full I stumbled across this adapter, which sent me to the motherboard manual to see if there might be an unused USB connector on the motherboard. I actually discovered there are two. One was completely unused and the other was being used to bring one USB 2.0 port to the front panel. There was also a USB 3 port on the front panel, so I decided I could live without the second port on the front and connected the StarTech adapter to the two USB headers. Unlike some other reviews of this mentioned, the header pins were tight and solid. Upon power up, all 4 ports worked. If you have ever worked on a computer at all, installation is a no brainer. Some other reviews complained about the old school gray cable and I have to admit the adapter doesn't exactly blend in. My computer lives under my desk and is a tool, not a showpiece for me, so the non-matching colors in the box don't bother me. Your mileage may vary.

Great product if you need USB 2.0 connections and your MB has them
I just built a new computer and the case has no USB 2.0 ports, and the very nice ASUS X570 motherboard has none either. It has loads of USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, which is great, but for things like my mouse, keyboard, etc, I just need USB 2.0 ports. I don't know if this is true any more but years ago it was the case that connecting USB 2.0 devices to USB 3.0 ports could slow other ports down. That may be very old, out-of-date info, but in any case, I do connect many things to the computer and I didn't want to futz with an external hub just for USB 2.0 devices. As my MB still has two USB 2 headers on the board (each of which can handle 2 ports) this was a great solution: It uses the two headers, and provides the expected 4 ports, each header supporting 2. Aside: Why would someone build a slot using a connector that goes to a header that supports 2 ports and only provide one? This works well, and costs about $8. The only thing to be aware of, is that unlike a power hub, it provides only the default 5v, very low power on the ports. That's fine for mice, keyboards, etc, but if you need more power then you need a powered hub, as there are still numerous devices that are happy with USB 2.0 speeds but need more power.

Well built, solid design, works great!
These work great with the Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard. Always had the problem of not enough USB ports, two of these solved the problem :-) I may remove an old AMD Athlon USB extension and purchase another one of these. Been using for quite a while now with many different accessories without a glitche. No problems with external drives, wired or wireless gamepads/joysticks, Bluetooth or WiFi dongles. Data transfer rates are high and HD 1080p movies play flawlessly. Plugs are built solid, well insulated, plenty of cable length for a full size ATX case. USB ports are tight, have a good grip and no chance of plugs slipping out. Great product at the perfect price. Highly reccomend this brand. Thank you StarTech!

Works as expected
Was concerned that it wasn't black and the white cables would stand out in my black case but you barely noticed the cables in the case. It does exactly what it needs to do it works perfectly.

Excellent way to add more USB 2 ports
Depending on how many USB 2 headers you have on your board, this is an inexpensive way to add plenty of USB 2 ports for peripherals which don't require a lot of speed. I used this for a long time on my old machine, and no longer need it on my new one. But I never had any issues with it. I would absolutely buy it again if needed.

Easy Install & works with no drivers to install.
I had two motherboard UBS ports (2 USP per port, 4 total) I wanted to bring out to the case back. I was impressed with the quality of the part especially the cabling and connectors. It was a very neat install.

adattatore 4 porte usb - ottimo

Don't let the pictures fool you
The cables are much longer than the pictures indicate. They're actually over 30cm long, so plenty of length to reach USB headers located anywhere along the bottom of your motherboard. This product is great for the price (~$14 AUD at time of purchase). No need to purchase another dodgy (cheap) PCIe card to gain more USB ports. Can go in any empty expansion card space in your case and doesn't need a spare PCIe slot in your motherboard. Just needs a spare USB 2.0 header (or two, ideally, if you want to use all four ports) on your motherboard. Fantastic. I did consider removing a star for the name of this device, as it took a lot of googling and amazoning before I found this. No mention of "header", "motherboard", "internal", "9 pin", etc. Instead it's called a "USB Slot Plate Adapter" lol. I got there in the end though. Thanks!
