I bought this Ring doorbell with a certain amount of scepticism after reading some of the reviews. The Ring Camera is solid and quality unlike some of the alternative products on. I set it up very easily indoors on the table, the set up instructions within the Ring App are very good and easy to follow, the Ring Chime that I purchased with this item proved a little trickier to pair with my broadband after installing in the hallway, the router wouldn't connect properly so I brought the chime to the living room where my router is and paired it there at the 1st attempt, after an hour or so i moved it back to the hallway and it works fine. The many settings within the app allow you to set up the device for optimum battery use tailored to your needs. You can also tailor the alert zones immediately beyond and around the ring camera so that you only get the alerts that you want, which is particularly important if overlooking other properties and you don't want to be alerted every time a person walks past their house. The picture capture quality is very good. After the months free trial of recording, I thought I would not bother with it, but find it is very useful to have this as for a start your not always at home and sometimes you need proof of wrong doing and cant have that without the recording feature. Having a quick reply is good as well due to it taking me a bit of time getting to the door.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Purchased for a family member, for safety due to my good experiences with the previous 1, 2 & 3 versions. Due to the strong Ring brand, it’s presence is a deterrent, as people know what it can do & how easy it is to transfer footage to even police , if necessary, as the footage can be kept on their cloud for at least 30 days. & clips can be forwarded from there to whoever needs it. Amazed at the sharp quality of the lens & the colour in the day & night. You can now see head to toe easily but also even shows the driveway. You can even zoom in on the footage. Plus Easy for distant families to be authorised to have app access to the footage. To check on elderly relatives & check visits / post delivered safely & unwanted intruders.It came with a mount with a reversible small wedge so you can angle it on either side of the door to get a wider or narrower view

Replaced a previous generation Ring doorbell that failed after 2 years with this. Not much of an upgrade the field of view is slightly better it’s more or a square fish eye lens as opposed to the more wider landscape view of the previous generation.Overall great product however you can sometimes miss notifications as you do need it close to the router and they really do need quite a good signal else it’ll just fall asleep and even when someone rings the doorbell nothing will happen.I’ve invested quite heavily in to the Ring infrastructure with numerous outdoor cameras and the Ring Alarm system and I love the fact it’s so easy to use and you don’t need to be that overly knowledgeable when it comes to I.T to get it all working and all Ring products talk to each other quite well all under one app. Generally it’s all a very pleasant experience.I also find Ring technical support really good, they answer straight away and are quite technically knowledgeable to get the problem resolved.On to the negative, it really does all relay on your internet and if you’ve got quite a large property and got various ring products dotted around the house you can struggle getting a really good WiFi signal everywhere, and I don’t mean just an average WiFi signal, you’ve got to have a great signal and it can lag when it comes to notifications.Second negative is the subscription charge, if you’ve have various ring products you’ll soon find yourself on the top subscription charge which is £90 per year, which if like me you’ll happily pay for a system that simply works you are left thinking they could easily increase the charge and because you’ve so heavily invested in to there infrastructure there’s not much you can do.I also find even with the smart motion set up you can sometimes either pick up false notifications such as a vehicle driving by or miss notifications. It would be great if there was a feature which would pick up all wanted notifications.Overall I’d definitely recommend it, however are in mind I’ve not used other smart doorbells to compare however I would recommend only if you have a good internet and WiFi signal where you’ll be placing the product.

Had been looking for a ring doorbell for a while but hadn’t been able to find the right one for my home until this one popped up , what’s great about it is that it is battery operated so no fiddly wires or difficulty to install just charge the battery , set up on the app and your good to go . It’s really easy to use and can be shared across devices . The quality is good and notifications are clear and precise. Settings are easy to navigate and change where needed . And as there’s an app it’s easy to use .

The numerous settings within the app allow you to set up the device for optimum battery use tailored to the required needs. You can also tailor the alert zones immediately beyond and around the ring camera so that you only get the alerts that you want, which is particularly important if like me you live on a main road and you don't want to be alerted everytime a person walks past your house!
