So far I really like it. Large screen is very nice.
We needed to replace a very old, slow laptop. We selected this one based on several features. First, we wanted a larger (17") screen because we don't plan to use it with a monitor. Second, we wanted a pretty fast processor, which it has. And third, we didn't want to spend a fortune. So far it seems it's been a good purchase. The screen is large and easy on the eyes, although the viewing angle seems to make a lot of difference in the brightness and contrast. It's fast in that screens change quickly and you don't ever think, "I wish this was faster."When I ordered it I didn't realize that it also has a lighted keyboard. HUGE plus! I just wish it was easier to find the button in the dark to turn on the lighted keyboard! (it's one of the function buttons on the top row). It does NOT have a touch screen, which is fine with me. Touch screens always have smudges all over them, and the touch screen seems to be one of the first things to break on a laptop. The camera and mic work well, as do the speakers. Great for watching movies with the larger screen and nice sound. Overall I've been very pleased, seeing how this is a relatively inexpensive (just over $500) laptop.

Very good blank slate laptop.
I bought this laptop based on the things I didn’t want to or couldn’t change. The large 17” screen, the backlit keyboard, and the newer adequate processor. As soon as I received it, I took off the back and replaced the two RAM cards and installed my old (newer) 4 TB SSD in the empty space for an extra hard drive. So the 8 GB RAM and 512 GB it came with didn’t matter. The screen is a very good resolution, not sure what some other reviewers are thinking. So all of my pictures, files, etc came over when I hooked up my 4 TB hard drive. I’m not a computer expert and took it took me about an hour to do this, not difficult and you get a new decent computer for a reasonable price. BTW, if you didn’t do any upgrades, it’s still ok and you always have that option. Hope this helps.

I like this laptop mainly because of the size
I am happy with this laptop because i wanted a 17" screen but I'm not happy with the fast battery loss of power. The fingerprint worked for maybe a day or two and I can't reset it.

good value
I had a Dell computer that was 8 years old It was slow and starting to freeze. I wanted a good replacement, and I thought Dell was one of the best on the market, but they are expensive. After talking to several computer owners, I decided to try an HP. I love this computer. The keyboard is backlit, its fast and the screen is large. For the money this is a good computer. I'm very happy with it.

Fast...VERY fast
I bought this HP computer to replace an older one. At first, I was hesitant because even though I had used HP computers in the past with no problem, the one that needed replacing was getting slower and slower, so much so that I would leave my desk while waiting for it to perform...not the best use of my time.I wanted to get a replacement with an Intel processor, an SSD drive and enough storage and memory to satisfy my home office and personal needs. I also really wanted a 17" screen. Of course, price played a role and at first, I stayed away from HP products despite pricing because I had such an unpleasant experience. Still, other users and reviewers trusted the brand, so I decided to include HP in my search. After a few months of searching, reading reviews and comparing features and prices, I decided to give HP another chance. If I had to go through the hassle of returning it, so be it, but I was just so frustrated with the unit that I had to replace that I gave in, bit the bullet and ordered this item.I am so glad that I did. Not only does it perform so much better, but it was also affordable...VERY affordable, especially compared to other products that either cost more or could not match its features. So, if you're in the market for a 17-inch laptop (OK, so at 17 inches laptop might be a stretch) that performs well, has lots of storage and is VERY well priced, give this one a try. I doubt you'll be sorry. And you will have saved a bit of money and frustration.

I wouldn't... I even purchased extra memory...
The display is terrible - if you are not at the perfect angle the screen is unreadable. I can't even discribe how terrible the display is. With it being a 17inch display you would think it would support higher resolutions, but no... Everything looks blurry and not crystal clear.8gig of RAM makes this laptop extreamly slow when trying to do anything with it. I even purchaes a 32gig upgrade. It helped a bit, but yeah...The power cord bent in the first few days of use.Extremely disappointed. I've used laptops for 20 years now and this by far is the worst laptop I ever used...Never again will I purchase anything made by HP...About all it's good for is dropping off my deck and recording it. Then try to make some of my money back by using the footage as content...
