I purchased this step bit in November 2024 and it's now June 2026. I would say that gives me a good runway to provide a good review of this product. Step bits have been around for quite a while now and there are many on the market that will burn up quickly if you try to throw a demanding job at them. I know I've asked more of this style of bit than they were designed to cope with, and when they'd go dull or burn up, I wasn't shocked or even really disappointed. This bit has held up better than most and the cutting geometry is different than many of them out there. It goes through metal quickly and smoother than most of the other step bits I've tried over the years. It has remained sharp and cuts very well. What I can say is I have not abused this bit because once I tried it the first time, I liked how it cut, so while I have not babied it, I have done my best to look after it. Steel and aluminum sheet is where this shines. However, another area where I've found it works well is for drilling holes in plastic enclosures, for electrical and control boxes. Normally ABS plastic, and it cuts like butter, and also at a slow speed, so you can be quite precise. I do a lot of work with control boxes and need to install cable glands, and this is my go-to bit. I actually came back today to buy another one and noticed there's a long lead time, and if I think back, I think I saw this on Project Farm's YouTube channel, so like most of the products he reviews, many have stock issues after his review videos. I just figured that after 18+ months, that wouldn't be the case, but it still is. It is worth the wait though and for the price, it's hard to beat. Use cutting oil, don't be overly aggressive, keep the RPMs lower, and if starts to get hot, stop, wait, add oil, and continue. It's when you rush that you can burn these bits up quickly. Highly recommended and if you're looking for a good all-around bit, this is the one I'd buy.

Never used one of these stepped bits before. Makes holes in thin metal well. Saves a lot of trouble over conventional bits. Enlarges existing holes well, something very difficult with conventional bits. Wished I had one of these years ago. This brand cuts fast. Not sure of its longevity yet but very impressed with how it cuts.
