Easy to use and insightful, but some strips fail
Intuitive to use, with virtually no setupโjust pop in the USB once for the UA strips. Itโs fascinating to measure and see in real time how your diet affects your health. The only downside is that around 30% of the microchipped test strips fail. Using the strips themselves isnโt difficult or awkward, so the cost of replacement strips feels a bit high. Overall, a useful and informative meter for tracking uric acid and glucose levels at home.

Easy to use when you know how, use extra blood and be quick about it.
This device is accurate for urate if used correctly. Takes a little more time than the glucose side, as about twice as much blood is required to fill the test strip. A lack of blood may affect the accuracy of the results. Be aware of the 20% error margin on both glucose and urate. As this will help you understand how close to the serum result is normal. I use the monitor everyday, as I need to control my urate levels due to the tubulars in my kidneys from childhood HUS. Urate for me is integrated particaloy causing an extreme reaction in my vascular system and my allergies/MCAS and HIT. So high irate literally makes me very ill and I can collapse on the floor. It is disabling as it affects my ability to think, feel, speak, function, walk, see, toilet etc. So I rely on it. Iโm on medication, but can only take every other day due to intolerance. So when I say this is a reliable and easy to use monitor, (once you learn to use it correctly) I am being very literal. The display is clear and similar to other monitors. It is just as portable as the other glucose monitors and comes with a sturdy case. I have another sink care glucose monitor. So I know their products are easy to handle when your hands are numb and you canโt use them properly due to your conditions. I picked this specific one as at the time it was the cheapest monitor on the market. I looked deeply into urate monitors from progression websites and from Amazon. I concluded that for home use, there is no real difference other than price. To help you use the monitor I will describe what I do differently from the glucose side to the monitor, to help those who struggle with the irate strip testing. Firstly, you open the box for the urate strips and find a white plug in micro USB unit. It goes straight into the port at the bottom of the monitor that is the calibration done. It will come up on the screen. Easy. Then it is calibrated for all strips in that box. Next I soak my hand in warm water as I suffer Raynauds, which is worse on Allopurinol. This allows more blood to flow as twice the amount I find is needed for urate than glucose. (This only is important for you if you struggle to draw enough blood. I use about the same as a large drop out of an essential oil bottle). After this I set up the finger prick and set it to 5. Large piecing needed for the extra blood. I push the blood from my arm to my fingers to get them ready for the blood draw. Only when I have done all this do I put the strips in for urate and glucose at the top of the monitor. Or just urate. As the longer urate is out, the faster the degradation. Is says the time frame in the instructions, but Iโm fast with the irate, as it degrades faster than the glucose. Then I gentle push blood up the arm again and into the finger and push the pen against the side of one of the fingers that is full of blood. As soon as it punches it, I push the blood out. I then put the urate strip first, always the urate first for me, to the side of the strip (very easy to see) and let it take up the blood. I donโt use the blood if the drop isnโt big enough as the strip test will be invalidated. If there is enough blood after, I do glucose, if not is squeeze a bit more or I re punch. Urate takes longer to get a result, but if you make sure there is enough blood, are quick with the test and calibrate the first time you open a new box of strips, it should be accurate. Outside of this, inaccuracy could be due to something being too high in your blood. Like medication (specific types) and certain substances your body produces. On another note, I needed to speck to customer services about the previous monitor. As the reason I figured out urate was a problem is because 4 glucose monitors were too high compared to serum levels and 1 was be try low. Customer services were great. They told me the exact amount of urate needed disturb the glucose monitors ability to test and which monitors go up and which ones go down. Vitamin C can do this as well in high doses. Mine appears to be a cross over between urate too high and Vitamin C supplements. This was the very specific information I needed and couldnโt find on the internet. I was so pleased with the accuracy, speed and detail of the response. As not all the monitors I was talking about were Sinocare. I will be staying with Sinocare in the future and the monitors are accurate, robust, cheap and there are deals on the strips. I struggle for money. But their customer service was what I loved. Thank you, this was very niche information and I really needed it. Please note, there is constant feedback on all urate monitors about being tricky or not accurate. You must use more blood for urate, be quick about the test, understand the error margin is a percentage and work this out after you have taken the test when comparing to serum. If you are comparing to serum, do the urate the same time roughly as your urate test. I do mine in my GP waiting area after my blood test. My result was very close. I was surprised. I have also heard that cholesterol finger pricks are a faff to test at home as well. So be aware whatever monitor you chose for those types of tests, you need to learn them slightly different to glucose testing. Ketones are apparently similar to glucose tests. So not a faff. I use urine dip sticks alongside this to keep an eye on protein in my kidneys. vitamin C levels for interference and any other issues with my health and kidneys. 11 -1 on Amazon. I find the cross over between these two tests helps me earlier keep a close eye on what is going on and interpret all my tests accurately with a full understanding of what is going on. This may aid you too if you donโt always know what is causing your issues. Lastly, if you monitor are out, research things that can be interfering with it first. Like medication of blood substances. As this will help your healthcare professional narrow down any issues. I love my monitor and it has made a big difference to my ability to regulate my life.

Great customer service
Great customer service. We initially thought we were missing the code chip for uric acid but upon reaching out to the seller, they were prompt with their responses. It was in the box with test strips. Great product too.

Does what it says.... I think
I got this because I had a bout of the dreaded gout! Which if you are reading this, I'm sure you probably know about ;) To be honest, it's impossible to know whether this is giving you correct readings or not unless you've had a test done with the GP, but what I would suggest is that if you do it consistently and keep notes, you can tell which way your uric acid is going and what seems to trigger things. I was in the 600s when I first got it and was hobbling around and managed to get it down into the 400s, all according to the readings on this device The blood sugar again is down to trust but I do have another tool which seems to match the readings so it must be fairly consistent. The the build quality is good, once you have calibrated it with the little USB stick, it really is very simple to use, the uric acid takes a little while to give a reading, but the blood sugar is only around 10 seconds so the speed is certainly fast. Big LCD screen means that you can see your readings clearly. So all in all it seems a good for me for money machine

How close is that?
I've been using this monitor for about 5 weeks on a daily basis. The results have basically been in the same ballpark I.e. high, being in the 500+ range (without medication). On the 3rd of this month my monitor read 512, i then went to the hospital for blood test, got results 2 days later. 509. How close is that?๐

uneven results
The glucose meter works fine but the uric acid test does not. I had one result at first use for uric acid levels since then no result. Also the battery life is very bad, after about five tests there is a low battery warning, even though the batteries are still fine. Changed batteries, another few tests, same message. Side note - you can't download results unlike the SD Codefree biosensor.
