Faulk's Game Calls Walnut Crow Call C-50, Brown

I have had three now since a child. I have tried others. This newest one is even better than my first one in 1976. Same quality same build but tuned perfectly from the factory. My other two over the years needed tuning. Which is easy and handy depending on if you want young Crow or old Buzzards. Just pull the mouthpiece out with the reed inside and move it ever so slightly one way or the other to get a lower tone or higher tone. This brand new one brings them in quickly from miles away. In no time everywhere I turn are Crows and Ravens wondering whats up. Great fun. I love my Crows and Ravens and never hurt them. I would feel terrible. But if you have to do for whatever reason this is the way to bring them in close. Better than any other out there on the market.

Lots of fun to call the crows in. Durable wooden design. Sounds great! Not too big to wear around your neck. Effective call for response. Decent price.

Haven't attracted any crows yet but I can already tell this is better than the plastic crow call I had bought 2 years ago. This one has a lower pitch than that one which sounds more like a crow than a new years eve party horn, so that's already a clear improvement. I know it'll work if I just dedicate more time to using it, because even the plastic one attracted crows, so this will definitely work too.

CONSTRUCTION: This crow call is well made, solid, and feels quality built from wood. One item to note is that the instructional video for this item tells the user to gently place your teeth on the bit while using. Even with casual and gentle use, this will wear into the veneer and make a mark on the bit. PRICE: There are cheaper calls and there are more expensive ones as well. It feels like its 2-4 dollars over priced but when you see it work, you quickly forget that aspect. EASE OF USE: The technique required to make the call sound authentic is easy but does take some practice to really perfect. If you simply blow air through the call, it will sound like a birthday party noise maker and not a crow. The key is to perform a "throat clearing" grumble while blowing to give the call its distinct gravel-like crow caw. You will also want to take some time to study actual call patterns to achieve the desired effect. There are many videos and documentaries that explain different calls and the meanings used in crow social communities. EFFECTIVENESS: Even if you are not perfect at the call, if you're in the ballpark, you'll typically get a response. I has crows calling back and flying over my house to investigate in just 5 minutes of intermittent calling using four short calls in a row. KNOW YOUR GOALS: If you're using this call just to interact with crows, you'll be satisfied fairly quickly. If you are using this call in an effort to befriend crows and get them to feed and bring you gifts, it's going to be a long road where the call is just one tool used to help you get there. EXTRAS: According to the packaging, this call is two birds in one and allows you to make a hawk call as well. This is achieved by blowing through the side of the reed bit instead of straight on like you would for the crow. I don't know much about hawks and it didn't sound like one to me. SUMMARY: If you are looking for a faily simple crow call, this well made call will not disappoint you. The price may seem high but it works and is effective when used appropriately.

Effectiveness? Haha Well you'll get Crowd circling around you hahahaha! The sound quality is literally a Crow (or a Baby Crow by slightly biting down on the wood as you blow out). The size is small and easily pocketable, and the value of this is well worth the investment. Simply easy to use and I'm pretty sure YouTubers have Videos on how to go about using it properly (tutorial).

Great purchase. Just ordered a second one. I was able to call a murder of about 40. Works much better than a plastic one I already had.

COVID-19 has us pretty much stuck at home. Thought it might be fun to get a Faulk's Walnut Crow Call and learn a little about crows. Glad to see it is made in America. It's quality. It was nicely packaged and came with instructions for making young versus adult crow calls. It is really easy to use - right out of the box - and it sounds very authentic. So authentic that it did not take long for a bunch of crows to show up. I will look for other Faulk's products. I have purchased other bird calls from other companies and Faulk's is heads and tails above the rest. This is a superior company. I highly recommend Faulk's.
