Is this food grade plastic and bpe free?

I don't believe so... also the lid is not air tight so not sure you would want to put food in it anyway.

Does the lid stay closed over time, keep out fruit flies?

I've had mine for over a year... We keep it outside for bagged pet waste, trash, etc. I don't bring it in during cold months, nor do i move it around to keep out of the sun (it gets about 3-4 hours a day). I have to say mine has held up well. The lid continues to operate as it did the first day. No cracking or warping. Having said that... this is not what I would call a tight fitting lid, as it just lays against the frame with no latch, seal etc so not really sure if that is what you are looking for (fruit flies are tiny!). For my purpose, I'm pleased and would repurchase if needed (though I don't see needing to replace it for a long time).

Are there two separate brackets or just one long one to fit both bins? I want to be able to put one on each door and need two separate brackets. tks

Amazon says this can't be shipped to my residential California address. Why not?

I don’t know it could be city regulations or something with mail carrier because I’m in CA and I was able to purchase it and have it delivered
