Does it actually work and peel the bark off the log
When I first tried the debarker the Belt was actually too long. I contacted the company and their customer service is excellent. They're immediately responded and we got it worked out. After putting the proper belt size on the debarker it worked just fine. I was able to quickly take the bark and camdium layer off the logs. I would buy it again, let's the job done.

Very poor quality
Very poor quality!!! Bought this to install on ms 250 saw there is not a hole for the tension adjustment to go. So it will not bolt up!! Should have boxed it back up and sent it back then but no I had to try to get it to work lol. Drilled a hole for the adjuster to slide in and got it to fit up then realized that the back nut was not going to be on the flat part of the mounting arm so made a angled washer so the nut would fit flat on the mount and then found the belts they had supplied were to long ! Wish I had just returned it but since I drilled a hole in it I’m stuck with a absolute pc of trash.. don’t waste your money on this ( hopefully with a shorter belt I can get some work out of it)

Impressive debarking tool and easy to connect to your saw
This is about 5 minutes on a 2 foot diameter log. It takes practice to get it to a smooth finish but not much. This one's a keeper.

A lot
First off, it says it works on an MS 170 chainsaw. Well, the belt rubs on the plastic of the saw and is not in alignment with the saw. Also, the washer on the saw's clutch will not fit only the e-clip. To adjust the depth of the blades, you'll need a quality 8 mm wench and throw away the cheap wench it comes with. Also, the nuts dig into the aluminum, so I suggest adding a thin steel shim to avoid that problem. All of that I noticed in the first few minutes. Will it hold up with use? I have my doubts.

definitely faster than debarking manually, but needs some tweaks
I am a hobby chainsaw miller, and remove the bark before doing my final stacking for air drying. I have previously removed the bark by hand with various tools, but it was always laborious and time consuming.I had a spare Stihl MS250 that I installed this on. The clutch drum was a bit too tight, but I was able to force it on the crankshaft, and it will stay there now - I don't think I could remove it if I wanted to.I had forgotten about it until recently and gave it a try on some recent slabs. It actually worked much better than I expected. I noticed a couple things though. The first is that only one of the two blades was actually cutting, and I noticed that it was sticking out a bit more than the other blade. After about three small slabs, I already noticed some nicks in that blade too, so I don't know how long these blades will actually last, though I tend to think they'll sharpen easy enough on either my diamond stones or CBN grinding wheel.I'll need to figure out a way to get both blades to project the same amount, but I don't think it will be too difficult, and I'll do that after sharpening the one blade that was doing all the cutting and has the nicks in it now.If there are any surprises about the product in the future, I'll update the review!

Great tool to help save sawmill blades!
This unit is well built and rigid for tough bark. The weight is decent for working on a long log. If I had to debark a large, thick barked species, I would ideally like a longer reach for ergonomics but for my needs with saw milling for and cedar, this exceeds my needs. After initial setup and ensuring all oil is out of the saw, critical alignment was easy. Start out slow and get the feel of the blades biting. Once you get the feel for the species of wood, bark will fly. Overall, we’ll engineered and does the job.

Used once and it broke
I bought this in September and just got around to using it. Used it for 5 minuets and it broke.

Good design, brittle material. Amazing customer service, updated
My son and I each bought this Log peeler. Great design, good alignment, weak, brittle cast metal. They both broke before an hours use. We bought new Stihl saws for these. An MS 211, and a MS 250.We used the 211 first. It broke in just under an hour. Mine was mounted on the MS 250. We thought having 2 mounting bolts may help it last longer. It broke in 5 minutes. These were ordered on the same day I believe and may have been in the same batch of cast metal. Love the design. Execution was a fail due to weak brittle cast metal. They both worked well and broke quickly. Two fails in 2 tries, we are asking for refunds. This manufacturer is committed to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Replaced both peelers. We created a video of opening the box, reading the instructions, installing and testing this peeler. We took additional precautions to check the blades for tightness. They were a little loose. We peeled a 40’ log. It was much faster than hand peeling. We liked the 4” wide blades. This peeler felt light and comfortable. The blades began to slip and create an uneven bite that put extra strain on the peeler, but it held up. We stopped to reset the blades. I recommend checking the blades often. I attached a picture of the blade. After experiencing this manufacturer’s customer service and support, I would recommend there peelerUpdate, 9/13/2023We have been using the replaced log peelers for several weeks now. They have held up beautifully. We have other log peeler attachments for our Stihl saws that work well, but we prefer the wider bladesOf this log peeler. Since receiving the replacement peelers, we have not changed back to the other peelers. The average size of the logs we are building with are 18” in diameter. The largest are over 30” diameter. We can clean up any missed spots on the wall with these peelers. This would be impossible with a draw knife. We will also use them for removing any high spots on the loft logs for the floor.
