Relatively easy to assemble, fairly powerful, pretty solid all around
The base could do with a little more weight (it feels like it could be easy to knock over). The knob to control the fan speed is a bit hard to turn because it's completely smooth (and to be fair, I'm also usually interacting with it while laying on my back or side in bed), but I was totally satisfied with this fan. Some assembly is required, but it was pretty straightforward. It's been a month or two since I bought it so I could be misremembering, but I don't think it even required a screwdriver or anything like that.

Item met expectations, and I'm satisfied with the purchase so far.
The fan was fairly easy to assemble and has been working well since I started using it. It's easy to adjust the angle, and it remains stable on a solid surface. It's just the right size for the bedroom and has good airflow.

Be careful unpacking
Be careful unpacking. There is the tiniest screw and nut just thrown in one of the plastic bags. I bought two fans and didn't know about the screw and nut on the first one and found them on the kitchen floor where we were assembling it. The nut was missing from the second package but found it in the box under a flap! They really should have packaged them better. Other than that I like the fans. They are stable and quiet and forceful. I bought them so I could clean them and I don't anticipate any problems with that issue. I put one in my bedroom and one in the kitchen but I had to switch them because one clicks trying to oscillate and kept me awake. If yours clicks I would consider it defective. I don't care about the one in the kitchen.

Pretty good fan.
I wish it were quieter. I'm very sensitive to sound when I am sleeping or working at the computer and I don't think I could sleep with this in my room, even on the lowest setting. On the other hand, it is quiet enough that I can work with it right next to me and the sound doesn't bother me, and I occasionally forget that it is there and running. Moves a lot of air even on the low setting. Seems stable on its base, doesn't drift. Sometimes it starts vibrating, but this can be fixed by adjusting the tilt. I do wish that they would redesign the control knob--it is completely smooth and not set back very far from the fan cage, therefore hard to grip and turn if you have arthritis, or if you have sweat or lotion on your hands. Overall, it's not perfect, but it is a good fan for the price. I ended up buying more than one.

Strength
Love it! I work in an old building and we’re always having AC issues. This is a great. It’s like a mid size so if you have a spacious desk, you can put it. It’s a good strength so I was able to put it on the lowest flow and it was breezy!

Holmes oscillating twelve inch fan
So I got this Van delivered on March 15th I didn't need to use it to the first week of June. When the weather got really hot, I used it 3 times that's it 3, and when I went to go use it the fourth time the motor was dead. There's nothing I could do about it because I only had until April 19th to bring it back. But I didn't need it until June, so my review is don't buy it because the mode was defective.I'm out the money I'm out of fan now.I have to go someplace else to get a fan and it's a shame I think you should have been replaced.Maybe it was defect in the product at the time but no sense in waste in my time trying to even do that.So my suggestion is don't buy this brand of fan.Because the motor just died within the fan three timesSo I got this Van delivered on March 15th I didn't need to use it to the first week of June. Questionable Quality but Nice Design
It says you can assemble this in10 minutes. That is a lie! It is easy to figure out how it goes together. But because of the cheap way it is made, fitting the cage that goes around the blades will probably take you an hour or two unless you have four hands. I have been a big "fan" of Homes products for years but apparently Holmes was acquired by Sunbeam. They are selling based on former reputation of the name. One reviewer mentioned the tiny nut and screw that look like they came from a pair of reading glasses, holding the blade cage halves together. The screw and nut are extremely easy to get lost as they go flying when you struggle with the cage, so put them far away in a safe place so they don't go flying as you try to assemble the halves of the cage. That's where your two hours will be spent unless you are a watchmaker with steady hands. It will not be easy; so have plenty of patience. Actually I like the new fan design layout but there is much plastic in it. Handle it carefully, especially the manual-snap horizontal angle adjustment because from prior experience with Holmes, either that or the oscillation knob internal assembly will be the first thing to break unless you avoid adjusting them often. I had to change my previous review because I discovered my 30-year old Holmes Fan, Model HAOF-1200 (made in China) is repairable. Do not throw your old fan away! There is a video on You Tube showing exactly how to disassemble and reassemble that exact previous model. In most cases it just needs gentle exercising of the tilt, speed adjustments and oscillating switch. They did redesign the speed control. This new version has a reverse (counter clockwise to unscrew) thread to remove fan blades from shaft for cleanng. The new model has reverse threat (clockwise to unscrew cap). I did finally lose the watchmaker's nut, (they should have included a spare part for that one!) but a small piece of cellophane tape will hold the tiny screw and cage around the blades in place permanently. I regard it as a "keeper" along with my old model; and it is much lighter weight and performs as well with 12" blades..

Great fan.
Great fan. Powerful but still has a soft feel to it. It has 3 speeds. I leave it on lowest speed, which can sill give a windchill. And so quiet I forget its even on. And it does oscilate. Like the total- black colour and chic looks.
