Question 2

Yes

Question 3

Does Dabur Meswak Toothpaste has formaldehyde as one of the ingredients?

Accepted Answer

I bought this product sometime back on Amazon & checked for ingredients on the packaging, but didnt find any mention of Formaldehyde...but i did some digging on this question and found this very detailed review from a user on Amazon.com. I have pasted the link as well as the content from the link for easy read..Comment link: http://www.amazon.com/review/RRCOHN4JUC7ZU/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt/184-7859281-0959264#RRCOHN4JUC7ZUIngredients - Calcium Carbonate, Sorbitol, Water, Silica, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate,Flavor, Miswak Extract,Cellulose Gum, Carrageenan, Sodium Silicate,Sodium Saccharin, FORMALDEHYDE. Dabur is well known to keep changing the artwork and what they choose to reveal. So if your toothpaste doesn't list the ingredients I've listed, don't ask me for proof.I've read the ingredients list on Dabur's toothpastes bought by relatives and have even tried some of them.I've used this joke of a toothpaste and others from Dabur as well. If you want canker sores, inability to taste foods for hours after brushing, increased risk for mouth cancer, a harsh abrasive toothpaste, then by all means, buy this for yourself.Hey it doesn't contain fluoride but it says it's natural so it MUST be good. Formaldehyde has been classified as a known human carcinogen (cancer-causing substance) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and if it's good enough to inhibit microbial activity on dead bodies, imagine what it does for your pearly whites.Or you can buy Trader Joe's Antiplaque Toothpaste with Fennel, Propolis & Myrrh 6 oz, a toothpaste that not only tastes better but is miles superior in every aspect and btw, doesn't contain fluoride. Got a Trader Joe's near you? Get this for $3.EDIT:There seems to be a lot of confusion about the presence of formaldehyde. The toothpastes that are from India do list formaldehyde as an ingredient, the import versions may or may not list it. Now, do they not list it because they don't use it or because it is below a certain concentration? That I do not know. But, are you really going to contemplate using this product when you have a myriad of natural toothpastes available from Jason's, Nature's Gate, Desert Essence, Periobrite and others from Amazon or places like Whole Foods?IF the presence of formaldehyde doesn't give you pause, certainly the presence of sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium saccharin (LAB made artificial sweetener ) ought to.UPDATE: The newest Meswak toothpastes purchased in India now also contain "triclosan", the active ingredient in Colgate Total toothpaste and alcohol free hand sanitizers. Saw it on a toothpaste tube a relative bought from India. I do not know if they've added triclosan to the export versions.updated ingredients list on a tube for the Indian domestic market: Calcium Carbonate, Sorbitol, Water, Silica, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Flavour, Miswak Extract, Cellulose Gum, Carrageenan, Sodium Silicate, PVM/ MA Copolymer, Sodium Saccharin, sodium Benzoate, Cl 77891, Triclosan. My educated guess is that they conveniently leave out the presence of Formaldehyde for the tubes destined for the domestic market due to the differences in regulations between India and the US.
