Beautiful Retro Player
My wife (mid 40's) loves everything retro (1920's -1960's) so I bought the Blue & Cream colour unit for her birthday.Lately we had been binge watching the 'Endeavour' Morse TV Series. Morse has one of these retro record players (not the same manufacturer but it looks the same). It is featured quite a lot in the show. Anyway, my wife made the gasping comment of "oh my god, look at that beautiful record player". She doesn't hint to buy things, she simply loved the look of it. Then proceeded to tell me that her dad had one years and years ago that she remembered using growing up and wondered if at least the old LP's still existed at her parents home (the player doesn't). Anyway I pretended that I wasn't really listening, but made a note-to-self to look for one on amazon because her birthday was coming up.When it was delivered, it was not wrapped (even though I had requested it) so the postman saw the photo of it on the box, and even he commented that it looked amazing. The birthday arrived, and when my wife saw it she was over the moon. It's such a unique gift - looks great too.The unit was exactly as pictured on amazon and it was very easy to assemble the 4 hand screwed legs. The sound is exactly the way you'd expect a 1960's styled record player to sound - crackling and sometimes tinny, but there is a hint of bass from the built-in speakers. No, there are no bass/treble dials. The volume can be turned up quite loud if you like. For me, the sound was authentic. No bose speakers in those days, so as this is a retro replica, it is only just that the manufacturer 'replicated' how one would have sounded. Don't get me wrong, it does sound great on it own. There is an audio out jack port if you do want to hook it up to a modern set of speakers though (which defeats the purpose IMHO). And there is no bluetooth connection either. So if you want a piece of retro memorabilia (even though a replica) buy this one. It looks fantastic in any style of room and the visitors we have had around to the house have all said "wow" when they saw it. It's just something that isn't seen much these days. It's a lovely design and it brings back childhood memories to some.

Disappointed
Looks lovely. Smart piece. Just what I wanted! Nostalgia and to play my old collection of singles and LPs.However, despite what it states in the instruction booklet - the arm does not pick up at the end of playing a side of an LP; the arm does pick up when playing singles but too early - the whole single does not play!Thought this could be easily remedied by sending a message of enquiry to GPO, the manufacturer, via their official business site. Of course, no reply! I have been in touch with Amazon adviser with regard to this problem and have asked them to try and contact the manufacturer for me. No response as yet. So, yes, this equipment is nice looking and stylish, but it doesn't work and you can't expect any response from the manufacturer. Haven't returned it to Amazon yet for a full refund - that seems like an inconvenience - but ultimately that is what I think I will have to do. Shame! Disappointed - especially with the manufacturer's customer service which does not seem to care a f***!

Awful experience
Record player did not work , initially contacting the company seemed a replacement would be straightforward. However they never again responded to calls or emails and I was left with a faulty product. I returned the item for a refund which was provided by Amazon. Thankfully Amazon protection rescued and protected my purchase. If I could rate minus stars I would

Beautiful sound
Absolutely love this, the sound is amazing and it looks great, has a proper retro feel. Maybe a little pricey, but then I guess you get what you pay for.

Unlucky start but it was all good in the end.....
Bought as a Chrsitmas present,It wasn't opened until Boxing Day and we found the turntable wasn't turning even though all the electrics were working fine. It was initially very dissappointing. However, I did a little investigation and found that the connector block from the power source to the turntable had fallen off, probably in transit and was easily reconnected. The record player is brilliant, works fine, had to use the damper as advised in the instructions and all the records play beautifully. It looks good too.

Unlike the quality of the original 60s
Like most things nowadays, I'm finding that items are designed more to look good in a photograph, which inevitably means they will sell on line. However, although this looks the part in the listings be aware. It's a bit smaller than it looks in the photos compared to the original 60s style record players and certainly far less robust. In fact overall not as good quality as the originals. The lid has what I can only describe as a Cotton type cloth covering. This means that it's not wipeable or even able to be dusted. My guess is that over time it will become quite grubby. There's a very strange smell about this record player too. One that I'm unable to describe. The inside of the lid has, I think a cardboard panel, covered with the same material as the outer lid. Mine is already pealing off after three weeks of receiving it (see photo). The Gold coloured metal strip along the front edge is poorly fitted, and the end prices quite sharp (see photo). If you are a music buff who likes to "listen" to music this isn't for you. At best it's okay turned down quietly as a background sound whilst you are reading or something, but the tiny speakers have little Bass about them and cannot cope with volume. On a couple of the lps we have, the arm ejects before reaching the end of the last track, suggesting that it's not suitably adjusted for 33rpm.I could go on. Difficult to find a new Sixties Style record player of any quality I would suggest.
