Needs work... hoping they update it.
Let's start with the hardware... it's much lighter and slightly smaller than the H1000 is replaces. the resin back looks and feels good, the aesthetic is classic g shock chonk which you are either here for or hate in which case why are you here. The buttons aren't very responsive, need a good hard push and a pause in between when navigating menu, which gets old fast. It does at least lay flat too unlike some recent models. And the charger is just weird, a big fat clip thing that holds it firmly in place, I guess that's good? It feels like quality, if not £350 of quality. The sensors are quality ones, accurate by early accounts - ran it side by side with an Apple Watch and the count was always within 1-2 bpm so it feels accurate, though many 'pro' runners are saying it's nowhere near as accurate as a chest strap. But let's talk about the software. Yes it's firmware upgradeable, so let's hope they upgrade it, beyond the day one patch you have to install. There are only 5 clock faces, of which only 1 is customisable, and 3 of which are generic. The app stinks. Doesn't sync with google fit/apple health, hopefully that will come eventually. There are so many weird limitations, like can't put a world time widget on the customisable clock face. Can't turn off wake up alarms at weekends. Notifications work, I guess, slightly better than the previous models because at least they show on the home screen... let's see if Casio cares enough to improve it...4 weeks later and can also report, sleep tracking just straight up does not work, while the pairing between phone and watch breaks down every 1-2 days and you have to reinitialise it all. Not great. Not even good.
