The Whole30 Fast & Easy Cookbook: 150 Simply Delicious Everyday Recipes for Your Whole30

Should have been titled "Whole30 Fast, Easy, & Sooooo Delish!"
Who likes to cook and eat yummy food? I do! Who likes to make two separate meals every night (one for me, one for my kids)? I don't! For some time, I've been wondering how to economically nourish my whole family (7 of us) with meals that we can ALL eat (AND not spend too much time in the kitchen). Melissa Hartwig's "Whole30 Fast & Easy" is proving itself to be an excellent solution for us!After receiving the book, I read through all the recipes, marked the ones I thought my kids would like, and then had my pickiest eater (8 year-old son) look through the recipes I selected and pick the meals he thought looked good. I was very pleased that he chose 54 new recipes for our family to try! :) I put together a 30-day dinner menu and purchased ingredients for the first week (which is coming to and end as I right this review). Because I already had on hand many of the ingredients in the recipes we chose, I only spent $35 for 6 nights of dinners (+1 night of leftovers) for our family of 7. That is awesome and so far, EVERY RECIPE I'VE MADE HAS BEEN SOOOOO DELICIOUS!!!! My kids have been willing to try the new recipes because it wasn't just me that picked them out and they have also found them to be yum!I usually try about 5 recipes from a cookbook before I make up my mind about whether or not it's a keeper. This one is definitely a keeper! The meals I've made using this book have been super yum AND satisfying (which means NOT food without breaks). This is what I've made so far:p. 165 Hearty Chinese Egg Drop Soup - I was hesitant to make this at first, but it turned out really great! Who knew?p. 139 Roasted Sausages with Potatoes & Cabbage - I doubled the potatoes and roasted them on a separate baking pan than the sausages and cabbage (perks of having a double oven). This was surprisingly filling! My hubby beat me to the left-overs the next day!p. 171 Green Chili Pork Stew - Super yum! My kids suggested I add carrots next time. I enjoyed the left-overs!p. 193 Italian Beef Soup - So, so good, but NOT food without breaks. Very satisfying! Next time I'll double the recipe so we can have leftovers.p. 121 Roasted Potato and Kale Hash with Eggs - Superb! The spices really work well on the potatoes and the eggs make it satisfying! So delish!!!Tonight we're going to try the Thai Chicken Sweet-Potato-Noodle Bowls on p. 160. I've given an A+ to all of those recipes I've tried and I am really looking forward to making more "Fast & Easy" meals for ALL my family! Melissa Hartwig's book should have been titled "Whole30 Fast, Easy, & Sooooo Delish!"

Wowza! I can't Believe it's not butter
Let me just start by saying, I AM not good at cooking. Nor did my parent ever teach me but, like every one here, I want to be healthy( or healthier LOL). It was hard not knowing how to season food or how to what technique to use. My food tasted gross and finding a decent recipe was like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I soon resorted to fast food time and time again.. I bought this cookbook because of a recommendation and OMG. I. AM. IN. LOVE. You guys, these recipes are fast, simple and nutritious! All the ingredients you can find America. I usually have trouble finding certain spices and ingredients from other recipe books that aren't available in my county but, I did not have that problem with this cookbook. It' simplicity is amazing. Really takes you back to simple, uncomplicated cooking. No fancy appliance needed. I found it easy to follow the directions and it was very versatile. It was easy to substitute an ingredient to your preference and make it customizable. It has been my savings grace! I would TOTALLY order it again if I ever my copy.

New, simple, filling recipes
This cook book has me enthralled by what felt like endless recipes and opened my mind to new creations from their pages and suggestions. The whole 30 for non-first-timers can feel very limited and pigeon holed into just eating meat, potatoes, and salads. I purchased this about a week ago and have made 4 recipes with plans to make more in the upcoming days. The recipes FINALLY don’t feel like you have to find rare precious ingredients that you can’t pronounce and actually fill you up while draining your bank account. I felt like this book finally makes trying new concoctions and sauces and sides NOT intimidating. The portion sizes are realistic and inspired me to mix and match from their foundation. Highly recommend!

Comes with a learning curve, but otherwise simple!
This is one of those cookbooks that I bought and ended up using more than I expected. I own a couple of big boxes with cooking recipe magazines and I thought I had seen it all, but boy was I wrong!I can't really say much about the whole30 component, because I never really wanted to do the diet to the letter, I just wanted some healthier and carb-free recipes to add to my collection. If you're looking to give new ingredients a try, there is a little bit of a learning-curve for this book, I found that despite owning (what I thought was) a large and diverse amount of spices, I found that the first couple of trips to the supermarket ended up being more expensive than originally planned because I bought so many sauces and spices. Garam masala was a challenge for me. I couldn't find it anywhere in my town so I had to order it online! The recipes are simple enough and some are clearly better than others. The main issue with the recipes here is that if you live in a small town like myself, you're going to have a hard time finding the more exotic ingredients (like decent celery root). But if you're willing to substitute every now and then, I think most of these recipes are pretty simple and have great taste and are substantial meals that make you feel full. This isn't a "eat salad every day" book, which is a great plus for a carb-free diet book in my opninion!

Love this cook book worth every penny!!
I really like this cookbook. It has so many things in there from soups, salads, lettuce wraps to stirfry to oven baking meals. All very Healthy and easy. This book is double the price at Barns & Noble so I was really happy to find it on Amazon. There is also reading in there you can do if you want to stick to the whole 30 Program. There is a lot of hacks for things you can substitute other items for and also how to make things from scratch like sauces or dips or even butter that is for people with dairy sensitivity. Also many resources!

Essential and delicious for whole 30 and beyond!
This cookbook has been an essential In my arsenal while doing my own whole 30! I’m on my third round right now and even when I’m not officially whole 30 I’m cooking from this book! The “breaded” pork chops and slow cooker Moroccan chicken are THE BEST!
