Sonos Era 100 | Smart Speaker with WiFi, Bluetooth, compatible with Amazon Alexa - White

Amazing speaker, sounds clear and crisp, and can pair with another Era 100 and Sonos soundbars too. There’s no wires to worry about, as everything runs through WiFi - this initially concerned me as I wasn’t sure about my WiFi strength or bandwidth, however I have had no issues at all. The app is much improved, and provides connectivity options like Bluetooth, AirPlay, Apple Music, Amazon Music and others. Adjustments for EQ, surround, TruePlay etc are all here, provided you have the setup. I currently use the Era 100’s as a pair of rear surrounds for my Beam Gen 2 and Sub Mini, and it sounds incredible. I would say they are overkill for my setup, and some of the features are lost (they are still available through the soundbar though) and I’m not using these speakers to their full potential.A little on TruePlay - it really does help when setting up your speaker or surround system. It measures the room acoustics using your phone microphone and works a treat. A clear difference can be heard after using TruePlay, so it’s recommended if you can. Just a warning though, the sound it plays during setup is pretty loud, so try not to do it late at night..!In summary, I’m sure you’ll enjoy these speakers. They offer clarity and can present much more of the soundstage, meaning you hear new things in tracks you’ve listened to many times before. I love this speaker, a great addition to our house. The most important factor is how it sounds, and it's brilliant. It's replaced an older Bose Bluetooth speaker we used to have in our kitchen, and the difference in audio quality is night and day - well worth what I paid for it. It is very easy to setup and control via an app on your phone, and for me it integrates seamlessly with Spotify and BBC Sounds. I would recommend this product to anyone who thinks it's reasonable to spend over £200 on a speaker.I originally wrote this review with the title "Excellent speaker - but voice control is poor". This is because the voice controls did not work properly in my first few weeks of owning the product in February 2024. Alexa was completely unusable - simple commands rarely worked, complex commands never worked. Also, there are no good alternative ways to control the device with your voice (this is still true - the built-in "Hey Sonos" is useless for everything apart from adjusting the volume, and it's not compatible with Google Assistant). However, as of March 2024 Alexa now works without any problems and the device works properly as a smart speaker. I've read that this was a known bug with Alexa on this particular speaker, and it has now been fixed. Therefore, I've updated this review with 5 stars.

As a speaker, it does a great job at delivering exceptional sound quality for the price. The design of the speaker is sleek, and the touch sensitive controls work really well. The sound is well balanced and surprisingly loud for it's size.However, the Alexa voice assistant feature is rather poor compared to an actual amazon echo product. Alexa on this device is regularly unresponsive to the trigger command, and sometimes lag for many seconds before responding. Even standing near the device, you often have to shout just to get Alexa to trigger. These issues, while do occur, tends to be a lot more rare on my echo dot.So, in summary, if you are looking to purchase this speaker for the sound quality and for integrating with the Sonos ecosystem, then i would say it is a great product for it's price. The Alexa voice assistant feature is a nice added bouns. But if you are looking for a high sound quality speaker specifically with the Alexa feature then it might be worth looking elsewhere, or potentially getting the speaker of your choice and a separate echo product.

Great little speakers and paired with Sonos gen 2 Beam to give a cost effective surround sound effect.Like the Beam, two Era 100 speakers output good sound and make a significant difference to music, TV and gaming especially when the source quality is good.Friends have commented when watching football matches to hearing distinct crows chants just making viewing more immersive.

I already own a pair of the fantastic Sonos Era 100's that I use for listening to music in my bedroom and since upgrading to a Beam gen 2 soundbar for the living room TV, I had to compliment it by adding another pair or Era 100's to use as my surround speakers. And boy I'm so glad I did. They really make all the difference. The build quality is great and ease of use and connectivity . I only have a small space to fill but the sound is perfect for movies and listening to music and to be able to group them with my bedroom speakers to have music playing throughout. Definitely a good investment

I don't like to leave 1 star reviews, but I struggle to give it anything higher.Sonos have really dropped the ball. Several months ago they updated their Android app, and it stopped you being able to use Alexa on the speaker. This still hasn't been fixed over there months later.Essentially, you can't add Alexa if you have the Amazon shopping app installed. You have to uninstall the app, add Alexa in the Sonos app, then install the shopping app again. However, you then need to add the Sonos speaker to your Alexa app... Well that turned out to be impossible. It could just not see it no matter what I did.Wi-Fi range is also poor compared to other devices I tried at the same time. It couldn't pick up a router from approx 10 meters away through a wooden door.The Sonos app is not a good experience. I had none of these issues with my older generation Sonos devices.It sounds fine. That's the only positive I have sadly. I hate to beat up on a device, but this one left me feeling very frustrated.
