The Bite That Binds (The Deep in Your Veins Series Book 2)

No bad, better than the first book.
Not bad soo much better then the first book. But ( yeah not even gonna hide it):Antonio still feels more like a too easy going figure headWho we know little to nothing about. Better then “Charlie”from “Charlie’s Angels” but not much and that’s really pathetic considering he’s their boss they live on his island on his estate, and he’s supposedly like a father to them both. That list could go on and on.The continued lack of world building to support the endless about of powers the vampires have. Seriously there seems to be nothing one of them can’t do. I’ve never heard of theability to freeze 🥶 someone’s body in place on a molecular level and then one another to be able to go in and tinker with their DNA . Maybe in a story how a spell might back fire or almost kill them on purpose but they survive but in that survive because of the damage the magic wrought ,they were changed.I love the idea of different and various powers and ability but w/ the tiny almost lack world 🌍 building to help explain or us to understand it was creasing harder and harder to buy the concept and stay in the story. While both Sam and Jared are soo much less the cranky immature children they were in the last book, their communication skills still lack greatly .Add that o the fact that even when they finally do talk things out and explain themselves their insecurities are still soo huge and soo blatant they are a drag on the story . Even when they have facts to finally explain their actions to the other soo all their lame conclusion jumping should be at an end, they are still pathetically insecure.Sam STILL needing reassurance after their binding that Jared isn’t going to move on and find another leaving her to feel his emotions after all she’s seen and he’d done and all his behaviors explained really hurt my feeling toward both the character and the story.Honestly between all she knew about Jared’s characters and all she now knew of his past,,she knew too dang much to be acting like that .She knew Jared NEVER was a user or a womanizer. Honestly he was the one used. He’s not h fickle type. And while even the strongest ppl can 2nd do have insecurities , this particular one just made Sam look ridiculous. This was all about Sam and her issues NOT Jared but at only 23/24 and supposedly having never truly been in love before and having not be serious boyfriend we’re told of I’m guessing it comes back to the parents we know nothing of but that should have been dealt with and done long before the wedding/Binding night. It also bugged me that we have this cruel heartless baby snatching ring where babies are snatching out their mothers womb and the women left to die story line never felt lik3 it got th closure it needed. It’s one of the three storylines going .Someone’s doing genetic testing empires. Manipulating their DNA. They baby stealing and mother killing . Sam and Jared’s binding ceremony and dealing w/his x/sire.Most fairly well done but the storyline never seemed to go too far past a mother’s need for revenge . That’s it. Not Hells yes! She deserved to kill the ppl responsible for wha happened to her. Of course. But it always seemed more about that than th babies themselves. We don’t ever find the babies or see them, or the supposedly desperate willing to do anything to have a child couples. Nothing. It left that storyline feeling too surreal and I wasn’t able to make the connection I’d have loved to been able to. Sadly this has really happened to women and their babies. Unlike vampires ,this is real. Sometimes less is more and this story tried for too much w/all the DNA and babies and ex’s/sire and Sam ultra sized insecurities, which was always coupled w/ almost too much snark, sass and attitude at times. Most of all what drew this down fo4 me is seeing go much Sam and Jared felt like a early prototype fo one of my favorite couples of all time: Knox and Harper from “Dark in You “ series. From how overly independent an$ hard it is for Sam to lean on others, to Jared’s deeply possessive streak and how he commands her to open for him when he wants to kiss or F her mouth. Even though these to come first they feel like pale imitations of what’s yet to come . While if I’d read these two first I probably would’ve been too disillusioned to have stuck around for more and never discovered the awesomeness of the “Dark in You “ series, reading in reverse isn’t helping either.Thank you Ms. Wright, this only makes me more grateful for your later books .

Great addition to the series :D
4.5-5 starsThis is a great addition to the series. I loved seeing Jared and Sam further their relationship while dealing with everything else. Although I'd suggest reading book #1 before reading this book, I will note that (like book #1) this book ends without a cliffhanger and with Jared and Sam happy at the end.In book #1, Here Be Sexist Vampires, Sam and Jared started out hating each other (or trying to) but ended the story in love and deciding to join in the vampire version of marriage, a Binding. As this story begins, Jared and Sam are being subjected to the celebrations and required events that are expected before the binding of a person as important as Jared (since he's the heir to the Grand High Master). Because of his position, the High Master Vampires show at the celebrations looking to judge Sam since she'll end up being Jared's co-ruler when the Grand High Master steps down. Some of the High Masters saw Sam fight during the big battle in the last book and aren't worried but others want to see what she can do and make no bones about their disrespect and attitude towards Sam. Jared doesn't like this but realizes that he has to let her fight her own battles lest he makes her look weak. While all the Binding ceremony hubbub is going on, Sam, Jared and their squad are pulled in to investigating 2 issues. One ends up being a pair of vampire brothers that are doing genetic experiments on vampires and making changes in them that shouldn't be possible. When Sam is targeted by the pair, things get sketchy because they do something to her but no one has any idea what. The fact that whatever was done caused her to have issues with her powers just made things worse, especially with all the High Master vamps around wanting to see what Sam's made of. The second is a baby abduction ring that they find out about that's being run by vampires. Jared, Sam and their team have to deal with trying to track down the vamps behind the ring and figure out how to take it down. On top of all this, Jared's sire, Magda, decides to show up for the Binding ceremony, in an effort to split up Jared and Sam. This wouldn't be too bad except that she has the power to sense people's emotions and fears and uses this power in an attempt to cause a rift between Jared and Sam, using Jared's silence about his past as her means to do it. Fortunately, although some of Magda's barbs strike home, Sam isn't about to let the witch run her off and she gives back as good as she gets. Obviously there's a lot going on for Sam and Jared. They do manage to get through everything though and have their Binding ceremony to end the book in a HEA.I totally enjoyed this addition to Sam and Jared's story. I loved seeing Jared and Sam grow their relationship and find their place together. They had a lot to deal with but managed to get past everything together without letting things get to them or between them. The action and romance are well balanced and there was always something going on to keep my interest. I can't wait to read book #3 and will be starting it immediately. I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up. :D

An Amazing Story That Doesn't Let You Go!
Suzanne Wright is still a relatively new-to-me author and this is only the second book of hers I've read but definitely wont be the last. I love her writing style; the pace she set for her story, the characters she creates and the gripping plot-lines.I love that this book brought out so many emotions; yes, I did growl like a wild woman at times in frustration, I wanted to hide from the violence and cruelty and yes, I did shed a tear or two. However, I also smiled and chuckled out loud at all the lighter moments, humour and well written banter. ;-) I enjoy a story more when the main female character is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Sam ticked all my boxes and then some. I love her sense of humour, sarkiness and an innate sense of right and wrong. All the characters that Ms Wright has created for this series are complex and multifaceted which makes both the villains and heroes feel more believable.Once again, I downloaded the narration by Justine Eyre and P. J. Ochlan and enjoyed the variation that these actors brought to the duel point of view. My only remaining criticism is that, to my English ear, Ochlan's version of Sam's London accent not as good as Eyre's but I did get used to it as the story swept me away. The Bite That Binds is a bloody good book and I have already downloaded book 3 through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.Due to the sexual scenes, colourful vocabulary and expletives throughout this story, I would recommend this book to adults who are not offended by content of this sort who love stories about kickass heroines and deserving alphas within the adult paranormal romance genre with story-lines about fighting for what's right and the

HEA for a minute
Book two still a slow burn romance but they are a couple in this one, I'm glad it did not drag on with a push and pull in the series (hate those) so far this series has been about the two of them with a close group of people (room for more storyline and relationships) there still is a main storyline a vampire the boss of them (but he is good) and keeping a trained team to keep him and other vampires safe.(there was a battle in book one) but this book focus is the love interest and two evils. This does end with a HEA but with more story to come, no cliff hangers

Absolutely brilliant
This second book was just as amazing as the first. Really funny with great character I adore Sam I think she's amazing with her take no crap attitude and give as good as she gets. Staying true to her personality and not letting people put her down as she tenacious. The things she and Jared go through make them my favourite couple and for their next challenge of getting ready for their binding ceremony, sam experiencing hell of pain courtesy of some psycho brothers, dealing with a baby smuggling ring and also dealing with Jared and Evan sire. Life at The Hollow is getting just crazy but it's worth every minute. Such an amazing series

A great read!
Book 2 is just as good as book 1, maybe even better - since we learn a little more about our favourite vampires. Be prepared to feel sorry for Sam as her story continues, as things will get worse for her before they get better. Thankfully she’ll handle what comes her way with her usual unique flair and style.Sam is possibly one of my favourite protagonists of all time. She’s intelligent, witty and not afraid to be herself. Jared affectionately describes her as a ‘crazy, homicidal bitch’ but she’s a bitch with heart. She’d kill and die for those she cares about and that’s part of the reason I love this character so much. Her binding gift to Jared is incredibly unique and funny, I’d say more but I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you.As much as I hated Magda , I enjoyed the way in which Sam and Jared interact with her. The scene’s she’s a part of will probably be the ones that have you laughing the most – most of them anyway. But don’t take my word for it. Read it and judge for yourself.Quote:(Sam) “Emotional blackmail? Oh now that’s low.”(Fletcher) “I prefer to think of it as a request said with love.”Suggested Audience: Adult readers of Paranormal RomanceProfanity: FrequentSexual content: FrequentViolence: FrequentCautionary element(s): Story revolves around a human trafficking ring who specialise in babies.
