I purchased this hastily for a carving project and neglected to read the full description. It should have occured to me to double check as the price for a solid piece this size is often twice the price. It states plainly and can even be seen in the sample picture that it is 2 or 3 large pieces laminated together. The piece that I received is comprised of two large pieces. I am very happy with it though as apparent care was taken to match the grains and the whole piece is very uniform in appearance and completely without knots or any other visible defects. I may edit this after carving but am quite satisfied. Remember to always read the full description!

They just glued two 4x2 pieces together, this is not one solid 4x4. It’s still fine to carve, but there will be lines from the different grain

This is a great piece of wood. It arrived wrapped up snug in plastic. I haven't made anything with this yet, but I carved off a bit to get a feel for it, and it's the same nice basswood that I've used from BeaverCraft's wood carving kits. Good and soft for carving, and looks great. I see no issues with this and look forward to thinking of something fun to carve from it! Disclosure: I won this in a contest. When I'm ready for another larger carving, though, I plan to buy from BeaverCraft.

Was hoping for better for the price. The wood seems to be of good quality, but the fact that it's 2 glued pieces is turning out to cause carving problems with fine details. Plus the piece I got is not quite square, which adds more problems. And it does have discolored flaws -see photos.

Beavercraft was able to explain to me clearly how i could retreve my product on amazon . What I also like about this is I can now purchase BeaverCraft products elsewhere. The timing also is impressive, so now I don't have to wait as long for carving wood.
