Zak George's Dog Training Revolution: The Complete Guide to Raising the Perfect Pet with Love

Had this only a day and I'm half way through. I bought this book after watching Zak's YouTube videos. We haven't got our puppy yet but we are hoping to have one in a couple of months time. This book is excellent. It is clear, well written and well presented. Zak teaches positive reinforcement to train your dog by making it fun for them to "obey" your commands. I have to say it's the most refreshing approach I have come across. Each and every last detail is covered from selection, to food, to crate training, to even naming your dog! It is extremely thorough but Zak still makes it exciting. Whilst he talks about the practicalities of making this commitment he also offers advice for all types of owners including those who aren't able to dedicate all day every day to your dog. Highly recommend!

I’ve loved Zaks YouTube channel since I first considered getting a puppy. After watching a couple of his videos I noticed he mentioned that this book is ideal for a person considering getting a puppy and I would agree. It gives you great advice and information on what to buy your dog and get your home ready for them coming home. The basics are there about toilet training and building a bond with your dog. For someone looking for detail about a specific issue with their dog, I don’t think I’d recommend this book. I know his other book is more geared towards someone who already has a dog who needs the extra detail. Overall I’m happy with my book and I like to refer to it from time to time now that my fluffy bundle is home and causing havoc!

Brilliant easy read & great go to book, to re-cap certain training methods that really do work. Coupled with his u tube clips this is really good stuff. Reward training always, no old school punishment methods.

I have 3 spaniels and when we got our new puppy and was going from 2 to 3, I thought then I really needed to do my research so that it would be a smooth transition. I bought this book prior too getting the puppy and decided to get to work on the two dogs I already had, I followed what Zak was saying, watched his Youtube videos which were very informative and read this book and his other one 'Zak George's Guide to a Well-Behaved Dog'. I definitely feel due to these 2 books and his videos that I have a very well behaved household of dogs! There is so many things in this that I didn't know and of course things that I did know but it was good to get a refresher on some things due to not having had a puppy for a while! I wish this was about when I got my first puppy because I would've learnt a lot from it. If your looking at getting a dog and your wanting to learn as much information as you can then I'd highly recommend this. I've let friends borrow these books now so that they can learn from it and they've been glad to have had it there for peace of mind.

I have really enjoyed reading this book and educating myself further on how to best train and develop a close bond with my new puppy! Zac has written this book with a clear message that you can train your dog effectively in a kind and patient manner. I have also followed his YouTube channel and have really benefited from following up the book with the relevant training videos. Overall a brilliant book! I would recommend to anyone who is new or old to puppy and older dog training! I would like to thank Zac from both myself and my puppy!

I bought this after watching a load of George's videos on YouTube. I also have a couple of other puppy and dog training books, and this one was very vague and dry by comparison. I find it quite unclear and meandering, with too many questions and answers bits that just refer to other parts of the book or are too specific to be very useful. What surprised me was that there were no illustrations at all. I expected back and white line drawings at least, to show postures or hand signals, or at least a couple of tables to break up the monotony of text. It's just long paragraphs of text in a casual style, that isn't very inviting for me to read and isn't quick to understand when I am panicking about my puppy training. It's also very American and goes on a bit about training methods as if not hitting a dog is revolutionary (maybe I'm showing my youth here). Personally, I like George's videos, but for the book side prefer Brain Games for Dogs and the Perfect Puppy by Bailey. They're much more fun to read and easy to follow. I don't regret buying this book because it will support the videos I've found really useful. But it's not the right book to buy if you only want one book on training. Update: Since this book has an index and some very in depth sections on certain training, I have found myself going to it when I need a detailed discussion or instructions.

When I first bought my 11 week old puppy home, we looked each other in the eyes and I realised in horror that I didn't have a clue how to communicate with him, and he hadn't a clue what the heck I was trying to say, or get him to do. Painfully aware that this very cute tiny bundle of fluff was rapidly going to turn into a large breed adolescent dog, I scanned the internet for a book that would help me get the poor petrified thing under control before I bumbled into making one mistake after the other. Thank goodness that in my panic I stumbled across and bought this book. It's refreshingly modern, positive approach demystified, in a step by step, easy to understand manner, not only everything you need to know, from what to do before you even get your dog (should have bought it sooner) right through to easy to follow guidance on how to tackle a thorough range of issues or challenges you might face, or more cleverly, how to prevent the problems arising in the first place (phew!). But that's not the best part. This book blew my mind away with amazingly clarity how to simply RELATE to your dog. I've honestly been transformed from a novice puppy owner who, lets face it, didn't have a clue, into a confident owner with an amazing understanding of where my dog is coming from, what his limitations are and knowing what's fair or unfair to expect. People often notice this understanding I now have with my dog, and subsequent good control he's under, and enquire how, so I find myself recommending this book on a regular basis. The look in my dog's eyes that I now get what he's feeling, or needing, or tempted by (yes you can predict what he's about to do and have some chance of preventing it) is not only a relief to both of us but has resulted in an understanding of each other that outstrips words on a page or in a review. If you only buy one book on dog training and want a fantastic relationship and understanding of your dog, this is the one to get.

Bought this for our new puppy, so glad we did and ahead of our pick up date for him too. It allowed us a smooth first week and getting him settled in, it has also been very handy for training and general tips. Zak's IG and YouTube channel really compliment the book too and after our 1st month we can say that our lab puppy is learning so many new commands.

I suoi metodi mi hanno aiutata a construire un rapporto speciale con Alvin e mi hanno permesso di educarlo in maniera umana e senza l'uso di alcuno strumento coercitivo. Ho seguito i suoi consigli anche quando ho portato a casa il mio secondo cane e sebbene sia stato un pelo più complicato a causa di un caratterino particolare della cucciola, dopo un anno di esercizi costanti e coerenza con il metodo anche lei è fantastica. Non posso far altro che consigliare caldamente questa lettura e i video di Zak, vi apriranno gli occhi sul modo di vivere il vostro cane.

I had previously read a book from Cesar Millan which I really liked, but it made me thinking that dogs should always be submissive to anything I wanted them to do. Zak’s book has a very friendly approach that I believe can create a bond between the dog and their owner, and it’s what I’ll be following from now on. My dog is 9mo old, I’m with him for 3 weeks now and he already does lots of things at home and in low distraction environments (sit, down, stand, take a bow, fetch, take it, leave it). I’m starting frisbee, but still getting their interest on it. I also recommend sympawtico training, they have great resources.

Thank you so much Zak! I have a 1 year old golden retriever and she's loving the training sessions. The book is really easy to read and so far, my dog has been picking things up really quickly. Enjoyable training sessions for both dog and human!

Es un buen libro para principiantes, yo por primera ves tengo un perro y lo estoy intentando entrenar, el libro me sirvio mucho para tener una buena idea de como empezar su entrenamiento. Aun es cachorro, asi que espero que a la larga sirvan todos los consejos del libro.
