Pema Chodron's Compassion Cards: Teachings for Awakening the Heart in Everyday Life

I absolutely love these compassion cards. I’ve turned to training in compassion. We all have the potential to be compassionate to ourselves and to others, However, somewhere along the line we can lose our way, sometimes life experiences unbalance us. We can lose compassion towards ourselves, as sometimes we’re conditioned to believe it’s selfish? Which is not the case in any shape or form!So I highly recommend anyone to use these cards to enable them to build upon their self compassion, and from that, compassion towards all other beings will follow.Be patient. Practice not judging others. All will fall into place, given time.Thank you Pema x

Received my cards 24hrs after publication date, beautifully constructed and in a secure magnet closing box. I have read Pema's teachings on Lojong in the book Start Where You Are and found it very helpful, I am delighted to have these cards to help me remember the slogans. This would definitely make a very nice gift, would add nicely to a desk or area of home practice. Thank you Pema and Shambala

While the quality of the cards are beautiful, the title 'compassion cards' makes very little sense to me when reading the cards. I was expecting positive affirmations/ self love/ compassionate messages, instead there are sentences like: "don't wallow in self-pity" / "don't expect applause"/ "don't be jealous" - these do not sound like compassionate phrases, they are more 'lectury' and tend to induce guilt or shame. I would've expected sentenced like 'If you feel jealous, hold yourself with understanding and compassion' or something like that? I find the title confusing, was hoping for compassionate messages, instead I felt lectured to when reading the cards. :( Sorry!

Pema Chodron is absolutely amazing. I have been following her practice via the cards and a deeper explanations from her books.

Full of wisdom and compassion - a tonic for everyday you choose a card. Some of the messages are quite tough to read as they demand that we remain mindful and kind in all our actions, which we are not always able to be. Speaking for myself here.

These cards are great! The teachings have really helped me maintain awareness during day to day activities. They also come with a little stand so you can keep them on display at home or at work which is very handy.

These cards are nicely made but the phrase on the card is quite abstract and really requires a study of the explanation on the back to have an impact. This negates the use of the little stand to prop the card up as a reminder because the meaning doesn't jump out at you when you glance at it in passing.

I was recently introduced to lojong in a Buddhist studies class. These cards help keep my practice front and center! I change out one saying a week - and have the card sitting on a shelf so that I pass it every time I sit at my desk. A wonderful reminder - and it helps me memorize the sayings too!
