Dogit Go-Slow Anti-Gulp Dog Bowl, Black, Large, 1.2 Litre

When I dropped and broke my littlest dog's inner bowl I found I couldn't buy replacement bowls only a complete stand and bowl in green and it was over £14. I already had two stands! Then I saw this little bowl, hesitated but decided to give it a go and at less than £5 a much better orice. Melamine is much more hygienic than plastic because it doesn't scratch and harbour bacteria. It's very easy to clean too. The larger red bowl is also melamine and has been in use for years, it's latest owner did try to chew the "knobs" at first because he didn't understand, and he's got a good set of teeth which had no effect at all so I wouldn't hesitate to buy melamine, it's tough. The "pink" bowl is actually lilac or pale purple in colour but I like that, I read it from another review before I ordered. When I first gave it to my smallest, (Maltese cross) rescue girl who is 6.5kg, she actually did a little happy dance. She loves it and I think it's better for her height wise. This type of bowl doesn't slow my biggest two dogs when eating, well not much, but it seems to work for the two littlest dogs.

My 10 week old Saint Bernard puppy practically inhales his food, he eats so fast and with bloat being such an issue in giant breeds, never mind the fact he was getting hiccups after each meal, I knew I needed a way to slow him down. The slow feeder mats wouldn't fit in to his food bowl perfectly, so the food would have gotten stuck underneath the mat, therefore I knew a bowl was the only way to go but due to his size I didn't want a small bowl as his kibble gets soaked in water, expanding it and softening it up so I literally went through every bowl sold at Amazon and this bowl stuck out immediately as suitable as it holds 900ml, it's not a flimsy silicone or lightweight plastic bowl and the reviews were really positive. I ordered it via Prime on Saturday and it arrives in time to give him his lunch in it the next day, WOW did it slow him down!! His usual 2-3 minute feeding frenzy was changed to 15 minutes as he worked his way around the bowl. (Now he's gotten used to it he's now 10 minutes). The bowl is a really good weight therefore my pup isn't chasing it all around the floor but I do have a non slip feeding mat down also that the dish sits on. I can highly recommend this to slow down a fast eating puppy.

I love this bowl. It's definitely slowed my spaniel down when eating. She takes her time now and really seems to enjoy her food. Definitely recommend this item nice colour to stong and solid and definitely hard waring.

One of the best anti-gulp bowls that I've found for our basset. It slows her down but still has a decent enough capacity to allow a nice quantity of food. It has a good anti-slip ring on the underside to stop any sliding around during feeding. The only cons are that it is breakable plastic. It's very tough for normal everyday use but our old one (this was a like-for-like replacement) was dropped onto the tiled kitchen floor and cracked in half. Also because the underside doesn't have any sort of base covering it, it fills with sludgy water in the dishwasher. That's it for downsides though - still the best bowl out there in my opinion so don't be put off.

This bowl resembles a 1962 Mini Cooper wheel in both size and design but the most important factor is that it works. My staffie pup has yet to acquaint himself with mealtime etiquette and will suction up a regular bowl of food in five seconds. This often resulted in him jumping into my lap and belching proudly in my face or worse, vomiting his food right back up and slinking off to his crate where he'd sit with his nose touching his bed in acute embarrassment. Unfortunately the lesson was never learned and the next time round he'd do it again. The first time he ate from this bowl his scoffing duration jumped from a handful of seconds to seven minutes. After a few weeks of practice that decreased markedly as he got his technique down and has now levelled out at a still respectable 30 seconds. Hence, no more vomiting and his previously resonant belches have decreased in ferocity and can now be safely ignored in polite company. With his new bowl my staffie treats mealtimes as a serious business. When given the word he strides over and really puts some effort into the process, snuffling like a pig and working his whole body with such vigour that his back legs sometimes leave the ground. The only downside to the whole business - and it is a minor one - is that his exertions sometime catapult the food onto places it should not be - on the floor, up the walls, in his water bowl. A few days ago I found a biscuit in his ear. Still, a good buy and I recommend it.

I am not normally one for reviews however I am that impressed with this dish I feel I need to share. Firstly the reason for purchasing I have a very fast eating cavapoo who will eat her food so fast that within 5 minutes it all comes back! I saw quite a few dishes for anti gulp, but mostly showing kibble, we feed complete raw and wanted a dish that she couldnt gulp her food down, but then wasn't a pain to clean after. The dish arrived the day after ordered we love amazon prime!! first impression which we wasnt expecting was the excellent quality, this is not a cheap plastic dish that will last a couple of weeks its built to last, its a good weight and with added rubber at the bottom it doesnt slip or slide around the floor, and it does what it says and has made her not gulp her food down ! and with the added bonus she licks the whole dish clean so easy washing! If you are looking for a good dog dish you will be happy with this one!

One of the best buys for my dogs made so far. Having recently acquired two 6 month old greedy pups, I was open to suggestions as to how to slow their eating down and stop them swallowing their entire meal in one gulp. This was recommended by a friend who had just got one for her new pup. I decided to get them first class and they arrived next day in time for their next meal! It was worth it, what used to take 15 seconds to devour and then choke on or bring back up, now takes at least 3 whole minutes. They no longer choke and snort and they enjoy their food so much more. They actually enjoy their food now. You have to make sure the food is pressed well onto rack area of the bowl, and I find adding a bit of hot water to their kibble helps the food last longer as it sticks to the bottom of the bowl more. They actually finish their food the same time as the adults now and there is less panic from the adult dogs, they know they can enjoy their food and the pups won't be dashing over to grab the leftovers! I got two pink ones in small size, and I have shihtzus. They are exactly the right size and will last them a lifetime. They are durable and well made, and infact, a lovely shade of dusky pink. I would definitely recomend these to any one with a dog that needs to slow it's eating.

Firstly, this bowl is the best version of the anti gobble / slow eating varieties. Reasons are the plastic is thick and robust - it doesn't crack or chip easily compared to the other tinny versions. Useful hand cut outs at the base of the bowl so you can place and pick up the bowl without touching the floor or struggling to lift the thing up. Substantial rubber trim to the base to insure the bowl stays put while your dog eats - although some dogs can move it around. In addition the placement and gently rounded shape of the raised parts in the bowl are kinder to the dog & his mouth. I had one bowl that had really pointed and cheap plastic raised parts in a different formation that actually made it quite impossible for the dog to get to the food and also ended up chipping the dog's teeth and knocking the gums. I've got a lot of experience with dog products and this does do the job the best and despite the cost it is worth paying for as it is effective and will last.

I dropped and broke my last slow feeder bowl so needed a new one. These are great for gulpy eaters like my two golden retrievers.

Don't know why this works, but it does. Our puppy no longer hacks up water after she drinks. And it actually seems to have taught her to drink more slowly - she can now drink properly from other bowls, too.
