Great Budget Mic
I got the Rode NT1 5th Generation as a birthday gift for my 19-year-old son, who is a college student and an aspiring artist, and I couldn’t have chosen a better microphone! From the moment he unboxed it, he was thrilled with the sleek silver design and the professional-quality build.Performance & Sound QualityRight out of the box, the NT1 delivers studio-grade clarity with an incredibly low noise floor. The warm, rich tone captures vocals beautifully, making it perfect for recording music, podcasts, and voiceovers. My son immediately noticed how crisp and detailed his voice sounded—no harshness, no distortion, just pure, natural audio. It picks up even the subtlest nuances, which makes it feel like a high-end mic at a mid-range price.Ease of Use & ConnectivityOne of the biggest highlights of the 5th Gen NT1 is its dual USB and XLR output, which makes it super versatile. As a college student with a limited setup, my son loves that he can plug it directly into his laptop via USB without needing an audio interface. When he’s in the studio, the XLR output lets him connect to professional equipment seamlessly. It’s truly a plug-and-play experience with zero learning curve, which is fantastic for beginners and pros alike.SM6 Shockmount & Pop FilterThe included SM6 shockmount and pop filter are a huge plus. The shockmount does a great job of isolating the mic from vibrations, and the pop filter eliminates plosives, making recordings sound even cleaner. It’s a complete professional setup straight out of the box—no need to buy extra accessories.Final VerdictThis microphone exceeded expectations and was the perfect gift for an aspiring artist. My son absolutely loves it and has been using it nonstop to record new music. Whether for home recordings, streaming, or professional studio use, the Rode NT1 5th Gen is an absolute winner. If you’re looking for a high-quality, future-proof mic for a budding musician, this is it. Highly recommended!

This is the only review you would need for this mic
I’ve been using the Rode NT1 5th Generation for a couple of weeks now and wanted to share my thoughts for anyone considering it. Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy and well-built this mic feels - even the SM6 shock mount and pop filter that come with it seem like they’re built to last. The setup was pretty easy, and I got it all hooked up without any fuss. I use it in my home studio, and it’s been a game changer for my recordings. The sound quality is clear and crisp, and it manages to capture the richness of vocals and instruments alike without adding any unwanted noise. That quiet operation is something I appreciate, especially considering the not-so-perfect acoustics of my space. The SM6 shock mount does a stellar job of minimizing any vibrations or accidental bumps from reaching the mic, and the pop filter is effective in reducing plosives, which gives a clean, professional sound to my recordings. For the price, the Rode NT1, with its shock mount and pop filter, feels like a solid investment, especially if you're getting into recording and want something that’s good quality without being overly complicated. Really happy with it and would definitely recommend to fellow musicians and podcasters!

LOVE THIS MIC!
The quality of the mic is AMAZING first of all. Hardly any white noise when I listen to the monitoring function on my GarageBand. I had a blue yeti, and that broke on me after less than 10 uses. I have a portable tascam as well, but was unsatisfied with the amount of white noise it picks up. The Rode NT1 5th gen mic is perfect for ASMR, which is what I record with it. I have made plenty of recordings so far and all sound clear and crisp. I also love the USBc function, as I don’t have or want to get an audio interface. It plugs right into the device I’m recording on, as long as I have a USBc port or adapter. I am surprised this mic is not more expensive. I definitely recommend it! (In the picture I have it set up on a microphone stand, which I purchased separately. The mic does come with a suspender to attach to a stand… not pictured in my photo but still great)

Great Mic. 32 bit float isn't live recording
This mic sounds outstanding and has professional level features at an affordable price. The 32 bit float can only be used with certain software and you need to download the Rode ASIO drivers. If you can't use 32 bit float, the mic will still function the same as any other mic at up to 192khz. Additionally, I've tried to get 32 bit float recording with OBS, but then you can't simultaneously use the mics regular mode with any other program.

Perfect microphone for podcasts and voiceovers.
Only mistake was not buying this mic earlier. Using it to record voice overs and i spent 3x this price trying out other microphones that were sub-par to this one.

Best microphone in its class by far
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this mic first from GC and returned it to purchase a Neumann BCM104. After paying > $1200 for the Neumann, I realized that the sound I got from my first NT1 was better than what I was getting from that mic. I returned the Neumann and ordered this from Amazon. This mic takes EQ and compression so easily. It is flat and moldable. It has a LOT of low end so you will need to deal with that but if you find the right placement and EQ for your voice, this mic is the best thing you will find until you spend into the over $1,500 category. No lie. Also, you get a complete mic package with this. In addition to the mic, you also get a shock mount, mic cable, usb cable (don't go this route if you want the best sound; use a proper audio interface), and pop filter. Everything is well made. I think I am still in shock with how good it is for the money. For the record, I have used this mic with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo (first time around) and the MOTU M6 (current interface). Both sounded nice. I have a comparison video of this mic vs the $1,195 Neumann BCM104. I preferred the Rode but you might like the Neumann better. Nonetheless, this is a great value.
