RE-PRESS: CD ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2017 .The combination of Broadway theatricality and pop sensibility has, perhaps, never been combined so flawlessly than in the 1989 collaboration of Liza Minnelli and the Pet Shop Boys on this her 9th studio album, Results, re-issued herewith as a fully expanded 4-disc collectable box set edition! With an actorly conviction and dramatic vocal delivery, Liza infused the synth-pop genre with an unnervingly real reading of lyrics throughout a collection of songs that seemed to underscore the persona of a vulnerable woman of a certain age; a sometimes victim, sometimes survivor of both emotional torpor and celebratory spiritedness. As a coming together of two musically disparate worlds, “Results” was a partnership of equals with huge mutual respect that in terms of Liza’s recording career delivered unprecedented commercial success in the shape of 600,000 European sales and a No.6 chart position in the UK for both the album and the lead single, a dance pop re-working of legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Losing My Mind’ from his hit musical Follies. “Results” achieved Gold status in both the UK and Spain. Liza’s delivery sounds unreservedly lush both in the simpering melancholy of her recount of destructive relationships in the aching ballads ‘Rent’ and ‘So Sorry, I Said’, or in their contrast with similarly sultry narratives with irrefutably infectious rhythms, as in the dance orientated singles ‘Losing My Mind’, ‘Love Pains’ or ‘Don’t Drop Bombs’ and all of their associated, officially released remixes. This edition of “Results” provides the hitherto most comprehensive collection of such remixes; the original 10 track album now comes with 21 remixes, some of them rare and never before released commercially or on CD. But that’s not all; as this truly is a deluxe edition there’s also a richly illustrated 40 page colour booklet with essays written by playwright Barney Ashton (Andy Bell Is Torsten) that tell the story of the album itself and give insights into all its component songs. Completing the package is an expanded DVD edition of the original promotional video collection “Visible Results” but this time with two additional exclusive tracks; a UK TV appearance of Liza performing ‘Love Pains’ and the promotional video for Liza’s last single for Sony, 1993’s ‘The Day After That’.

Still as amazing in 2022 as in the 90s- all you could wish for from liza and the pet shop boys!
i have adored this album since it was released ( i was young at the time) - the perfect combination of liza angst and broadway vocals - matche dwith the pet shop boys perfection of electronic music. The first singles " losing my mind was a big hit" - the next releases didnt make much impression on the charts - but dont think it down to quality of the songs - and to be honest some of the unreleased tracks are so much better and still blow my mind today!!!of course it is nice to have all the bonus mixes and the videos - but the album tracks that need our attention are " i want you now" - oh its full of strings its full of angst and wanting - the amount of hours i stood atme window in brighton looking out over the sea listening to this - its literally desperation heaven!!! it still amazes me to this day!!! ( skip to 2.30 seconds if you want a taster !)....and "if there was love " track 3 - it still amazes me from the opening bar to the last note - with a sonnet from shakespear thrown in - stunning vocals, lyrics and production - its pure bliss!the album has some good covers of rent (pet shop boys) - twist in my sobriety ( tanita tikaram) - both brilliant!it is to me - one of the best records of the time - and it stands the test of time!!! the remixes and everything are a welcome bonus!

Lisa Minnelli cd
Had this as a tape many years ago and loved the song love pains. Had not played the tape for ages so decided to purchase the CD. Even as a used cd, such an excellent price, in great condition, absolutely love it. Gone straight on my iPod, can play when I like now.

Genius
This is Liza at her very best , what a stunning album this is . Her voice and the pet shop boys writing most of the tracks is a great collaboration . For me the stand out tracks are I want you now and if there was love . The rest of the album is just awesome . All I can say is enjoy the results of it all .

Good round-up of the mixes but not top quality
Long-awaited and much-anticipated expanded edition (I hesitate to say deluxe) bringing together the original album plus most of the mixes of the singles, along with a DVD.The price (£23 at the time of writing this) is not exactly low. But, it has to be said, this box set is a far better and cheaper option than hunting down the individual CDs and vinyl releases where the mixes were originally released - some of them promos and some now very rare and expensive on the second-hand marketplace. On that basis, it's definitely worth getting if you're a fan of the album and its various singles.Volume levels are generally the same as the 2005 edition so no remastering (not that it really needed it). There are a few minor issues to mention. Twist In My Sobriety on CD1 is at a lower volume than everything else (you can hear it on the stereo and see it in audio software). The Love Pains mixes have very heavy bass (much more than on the one remix included on that 2005 edition). And there are vinyl rips on CD3 though they are not horrific - the two French mixes of Don't Drop Bombs (from a promo 12" released only in France after a remix contest) and the percapella of the same song. The French mixes are not very good anyway, to be honest. I very much doubt any master tapes were used in compiling this project. There's a lavish booklet (though the text/image layout is on a slight slant!) but the CD sleeves are quite thin. The overall feel is of something a bit low-budget that could have done with a little more care and attention to detail.Multiple mixes of the same song are all put together, making listening a bit of a slog, though there were not really enough singles to juggle things around too much anyway.Anyone daunted by all the versions included should instead get Results/Visible Results [CD + DVD]. This is probably a fairly niche release for music collectors and fans of Liza, Hi-NRG, Pet Shop Boys productions, 80s music and dance remixes.

Lost 80's Gem
This is a brilliant album which was constructed by the PSB with the superb vocals of Liza Minnelli. This is fun as well as dark one broody. From the upbeat and fun Don't Drop Bombs, the dark and smouldering I can't say goodnight and the haunting version of Rent. A added gem is Liza's take on Love Pains by the fabulous Hazell Dean. A must for any 80's fan or PSB van. A must!!

Losing My Mind for this re-issue
I was at first hesitant to triple dip for this album: didn't really think I needed more remixes of Losing My Mind and Don't Drop Bombs but I am so happy I did, some of these remixes I'd not heard since my younger days dancing in the Chicago clubs. I'm also quite pleased with the sound quality which is ever so slightly better than the re-issue from several years back. Thank You Amazon U.K.!
