Beautiful letter box. My door is 40mm so used the smaller of the 2 screws. I'd advice closing the front door with someone holding the outside when you screw it in. This was my 4th choice of letter boxes after 3 failed attempts with cheaper options. I chose this as it was more expensive. It's well worth paying the extra. It's solid, with some weight to it. Its definitely a quality product.After taking the tape off there was a little scratch underneath but you can't really see it, unless inspecting it.We had a red door and decided to paint it black, this finished it off perfectly.

Nice shiny solid crome . This letterbox is just what I wanted, & as described perfectly, not like other lightweight ones. This is the real deal a solid Crome one. Would highly recommend this product. Looks lovely on the front door. Perfect door furniture.

Looks good, simple to fit but disappointingly received a slightly different design to the one pictured here. Came with screws instead of bolts and I think the overall design is slightly inferior. With it being polished chrome it's going be a complete finger print magnet so regularly cleaning will be a must. Will update on longevity in due course.

My old letter box was all pitted and making our front door look decidedly shabby. This one was exactly the right size for my door and is heavy chrome. It makes our door look like new .It was a little tricky getting the screws to line up but patience paid off in the end . I wish I had changed it earlier !

This is a fantastic item. Very weighty, you can feel its a quality item. If you are going to purchase to replace and existing letterbox, ignore the 12" in the title. Before making a purchase, you need to remove your old letterbox and measure the hole in your door and where the holes for existing bolts are. They provide the measurements for this box in one of the images. Box is solid, very solid. The flats open a full 180 degree, for easy of access for your postman, and this does help with installation. Then brushes inside the rear part are not too firm, so they do not crunch your mail up. They also help to stop draughts through the letterbox. However, this item is so solid that I doubt even the strongest winds would be able to lift the outer flat - it is recessed too. There is a rubber seal around the inside of both flaps (internal and external). Chrome finish is perfect, no spots or pitting. There are cheaper ones available on Amazon, but this is by far the best quality item (I returned 3 before deciding to pay a bit more and get quality). Very happy with this purchase and more that happy to recommend this.

The crome is beautifully finished and excellent quality. It is very sturdy and doesn't flap in the wind. The brushes in the interior prevent draughts. The closing mechanism is good and allows ease of letters etc through the letterbox.I agree with other coments in reviews that you need to measure the original hole in the door when considering size of letterbox you need. The letterbox fit perfectly into the door without any adjustment.I agree that it is easier if 2 people are fitting it, purely because the screws can be fiddley to line up.The screws provided allow for adjustment of fitting according to depth of door. I have a composit door. The screws have little dints in where they can be cut. I used a bolt cutter, but any screw cutting tool could be used or a hack saw with a metal cutting blade. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars as if you're not aware of this, it might cost you to get someone to fit it.Overall, I'm thrilled to bits with it. Would highly recommend
