WORKS - ZOOM RESPONSE LAGS
I purchased the control for a Sony XDCAM PXW-Z90V. The control connects fine and works fine but the zoom in/out response is a bit slower than the camera's zoom in/out response. I made sure that the "SLOW ZOOM" in the controller is OFF before writing this review. I will keep as it still meets my needs.

A great alternative to Sony's Multi Terminal zoom controller
The only alternative for video/still cameras that use the Sony Multi Terminal connector I've found. When shooting video, the Sony unit is persnickety (in my opinion) and I HATE their clamp on system for the tripod handle. After years of waiting for some aftermarket device, this unit appeared, as well as an integrated Manfrotto-style tripod handle and zoom controller.I was using a Sony FX30 with this unit, and it responded very well. The zoom rocker was MUCH more to my liking. It's still not perfect, but egad--to me it's miles ahead of the Sony unit.My only complaint--and the only reason I returned this unit--is that I found the torque I needed to apply to this handle and the tripod handle made for slightly jerky moves, especially with telephoto shots. I film a lot of orchestral and choral concerts, so I'm usually shooting telephoto to get close shots of the singers and/or musicians. So the small jerks due to the torque I had to apply to move the fluid head just annoyed me. (I'll admit I'm a perfectionist!) So I returned this and immediately ordered the Tripod Pan Bar Handle Zoom Remote version, and I'm sure things will be smoother. This torque issue was the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, 5 stars for the unit!

Feels cheap but works
The material feels like very brittle plastic and won't take much to break. It is, however, the best available remote I could find for the AX53 that will allow more control over the zoom, while being ergonomic. I also purchased a 3 meter JJC cable because I need to control the camera from a distance. Unfortunately, Amazon does not seem to carry a compatible cable longer than 1 meter, so I had to shop around for something.
