Easy setup as extender with Xfinity router, and delivers strong signal!
It was very easy to set this up as a mesh extender used with the Xfinity router. Does just what is expected: makes a fast connection with the router and then provides strong, fast signal to the extended area. Uses the same SSID and password as the router (picked it up automatically from the router). Once started it automatically started picking up connections to devices on our network and improving their connection. That includes our main TV (Samsung) and a couple of the Xfinity boxes in our house. All of those are visibly faster! Like, a lot faster! Loading up an app on the TV (e.g. Netflix or Prime or Max) goes so much faster it is astonishing. Well worth this price.

A great router/AP for OpenWRT... and a good one for regular users...
I originally had three of these in an attempt to provide coverage to my old brick house which always has wi-fi signal issues. They worked better than what I had before them, as we received better overall coverage and connectivity. Unfortunately, the speed was still no where near the internet speeds what I could get with a cable (150Mbps@max on 5Ghz vs ~500Mbps on ethernet). Fortunately, OpenWRT has introduced support for this device... so now not only is the speed better on 5Ghz (over 200Mbps min) but there is also support for extra SSIDs (including guest networks), better support for selecting wi-fi channels, as well as additional support for VLANs (difficulty level=advanced) and other non-vendor supported applications . These also have one of the easiest OpenWRT installs outside of regular menu flashing on some... and they one of the safest installs by supporting U-Boot recovery if anything goes wrong with firmware updates or if you want to easily go back to DLink firmware from OpenWRT. There are four antennas on the 5Ghz AX band for mu-mimo (differing reports on the 2.4Ghz N band from 2 to 4 and it is often listed as AX instead of N)... and the signal strength settings are decent for 5Ghz, though they support up to 1watt for the 2.4Ghz band in case you need to overpower nearby signals. These devices have two-core arm processors (MediaTek Filogic) at 1.35Ghz and 512MB of RAM... while there is supposed to be significant storage (128MB), only about 21Gb is available in OpenWRT (which is only average). There are three ethernet ports on each device, though one is configured as WAN by default. These are basically the same hardware as the E8450, though without the flashing issues, two ethernet ports, and the USB port. I use the E8450 as the ethernet backhaul AP and these as wifi backhaul APs... since they are much faster than other brands due to the four 5Ghz antennas on each. At 45USD, these are good mesh routers... though you will need two or three. I am rating these four stars for the default firmware as shipped since they are very stable though missing many features. I am rating these five stars when running OpenWRT. As always, your mileage and preferences may vary...

Different Brand router connecting twice as fast
First off I like the router's simple setup and long range price wise is okay too especially since it's on sale for even cheaper now than when I purchased. Recently setup another router at the exact same location as this router after disconnecting, AX3000 router of another brand, my connection speed currently sits 1900-2400mbps. The M32 Eagle Pro AI connects at 1200mbps only.

Very little configuration capabilities
Would not buy again, their internal configuration UI is very limited and you cannot really configure anything, for example, activate only 2.4 or 5GHz wifi: not possible. Choose which wifi level 11n, 11ac, 11ax you want: impossible. Which channel to use: impossible. Stay away from this product.

It's easy to set up the M32 as a WiFi extender.
I chose to test this M32 as a WiFi extender because I'm living in a home where there is already a router that's shared and is working fine. I currently don't really need an extender or my own router but I probably will soon when I move to a new home, so I set it up now only for testing purposes. This D-Link M32 Router was easy to set up as an extender, but it's hard to tell if I'm connected to it or not because as the quick start guide says "By default, your device will share the same WiFi Name and Password as your router". I do now consistently have all 4 bars of the WiFi signal though, whereas before I set up the M32 it would fluctuate between 3 and 4 bars, so I assume I am connected to the M32. To set up the M32 as an extender, I followed the instructions on the quick installation guide by taking the M32 to a location close to our connected router. I had to log into our router to enable WPS just long enough for the M32 to connect to it, then I was able to disable WPS again on our preexisting router. As the quick start guide instructed, once the light on the M32 turned solid white, I unplugged it and took it closer to where I use the internet and plugged it back in, after a short time the M32 status light (an X on top) turned solid white again and my WiFi reception improved to 4 consistent bars. I tried to log into the M32 Device Setup with my browser but I think that may only be possible if it's being used as a router, not as an extender, because I wasn't able to. Only the quick start guide was included in the M32 box but I found a 159 page user manual PDF on the D-Link website.

Didn't improve my signal
I had a previous good experience with this item but Unfortunately this time although well connected it didn't improve my signal at all even with devices located very close in same room

Best I've ever had
Hands down this is the best router I've ever owned/used. Setup is incredibly simple, using any device you have. WiFi connections are strong and fast. Coverage is amazing, no drop zones throughout my 3 level 1500 sqf. house and outside patio, it doesn't cover my whole property but does provide more outdoor coverage than I've had from any other router I've had in the past. There are dozens of other networks around me, this router deals well with frequency overcrowding, automatically scanning the environment and adjusting itself once a week. I've only had to manually reset this router 4 times since June, 3 of those times in one day because of ISP issues. It works with Alexa I know that for sure and I think it works with whatever Google is calling their assistant now. (Some may notice the ASUS router in the pic. I turned the WiFi off and use it for my wired devices in my entertainment unit.)

Absolutely terrible - possibly the worst customer service that has ever existed.
If I could write zero stars I would. Unit is one year old, stopped working (constantly dropping internet). Paid extra money for D-Link "premium support", over 200 phone calls to their support line with busy signal each time. 25 e-mails sent to their e-mail support, half the time they don't respond, and when they do they just answer back with a question. You respond to their question and then they never get back to you after that. The fact that my credit card was charged for premium support that I can't access qualifies as fraud. HIGHLY RECOMMEND NEVER BUYING D-LINK EVER.
