Magnum Onguard Brute LS Bicycle Anti Theft Bike High Security U-Lock LK8000 Bike part

Been using this for a long time now, I cycle to and from a station on the outskirts of the city and I needed a lock that would stand the elements as well as keep my (very expensive) bike safe as I'd be leaving it locked around one of the bike stands when I'm not there. No point carting it back home every time as bag space is at a premium usually!As for the lock itself, it's done very well, it's solid, heavy, the lock has been perfect, unlike some previous reviews that say the key is harder to put in over time, I have not had the same trouble and it has been outside in the elements now for over a year. I'm very pleased with the product, it's definitely hefty enough to make any would be thief think twice about trying to get through it, pretty sure it would take a while and would require some pretty expensive tools to do so. Coupled with the on guard lock cable which I run through my front wheel the bike is practically unstealable to the lay thief, plus you've got the few thousand dollar theft guarantee to cover it should it fail.

This is heavy duty lock, not too big as some might say, but is near enough indestructible. I am confident to leave my bike attached to this in the town with it still being there when i get back. I am sure with an angle grinder it could be broken, but i don't leave outside overnight and i would hope that if in the middle of the day in the middle of town someone would say something if it was too happen.I have used this for two cycles too and use it in the garage to severe my wife's and my cycle.You get numerous keys too.The only issue i had was the that the clip to secure it to the cycle isn't a great fit and will move when cycling, however this isn't enough for me not to give it 5 stars due to the strength and cost is a fraction of its competitors.

I've been using this in a city context for almost a year now and am very pleased that I chose this lock. It was initially very easy to fit the bracket to my bike, and it has since proven sturdy, durable and, most importantly, secure. The key is lightweight and I haven't ever had any problems at all locking/unlocking. Spending on things like bike locks seems one of those "wish we didn't have to" purchases but I am grateful for this one!

This is everything they said and more.. though it is very large and heavy (how else could it be so safe!). Perfect for a motorbike or scooter but probably too large for a pushbike. It's about 7.5 inches across the base and a 13 inches high - good luck securing that to your frame; you'd have to carry it in a backpack. It does give the dimensions of 4 by 10 inches but these are the internals and could be a tad misleading! Great for home/work fixing if you can leave it in situ but I'll be looking for its little brother to use on a more regular basis. I'm loath to send it back as it's such a brilliant beast but will have to buy another - definitely another OnGuard

Its pretty heavy, doesn't come with frame mounts and the U bar rattles a bit in the lock part of the thing. They're the negatives.The positives are that its chunky, has a 97/100 rating, it comes with a load of spare keys and it doesn't cost a small fortune.It is heavy, but I have ridden 10+ miles with it in a small rucksack and I didn't really notice it.If I was to choose again then I'd probably go for the cheaper and thinner 14mm version.

Robust and would expect this to really slow down the average bike thief.

Spent longer researching locks than I did choosing my bike. Finally chose the Onguard Brute after reading dozens of reviews on different locks. Didn't want to spend a fortune on the likes of Kryptonite new york or granite plus and found this for just over £21 inc. postage, very good price. As the name suggests it is a big heavy lock. It did come with a mount but I put it in my backpack no problem. Left bike today outside supermarket and felt confident it would be OK. I know no lock is burglar proof but this will deter the majority of opportune thieves.

Feels nice and secure but (touch wood) I haven't had this security tested yet. I am thinking of getting a second one to leave at work as the first one stays at home in the garage - it is a bit too heavy to carry round regularly tho I would use it if I was going to the shops
