Do i have to activate 2 SIMs separately?

Well some inaccuracies here.  True, one is for use on Verizon (Super LTE) and the other for T-Mobile (GSM).  Both networks use LTE for 4G and NR for 5G, so these days most phones will work with either one.  (The whole CDMA vs.  GSM debacle is largely moot by now, since carriers have or are phasing out 2G/3G technologies from their networks).

Typically the "Super LTE" SIM (Verizon) will give better overall coverage, whereas the "GSM" (T-Mobile) gives better 5G coverage and better speeds. (They have no option for use on on AT&T's network; if you want that you may instead consider something like Red Pcoket - they offer all three).

Neither one will work abroad, whether for talk/text or data.  US Mobile offers an international data-only roaming add-on,  sold in increments of 1GB, 5GB or 10GB depending on destination.  It is very specifically targeted though and not usable by all:
* The add-on is delivered as a separate 30-day add-on line on a downloadable eSIM and not a physical SIM, so you need an eSIM capable phone that's compatible with their offering (currently only Google Pixel and iPhone).  
* There are some peculiar gaps in their coverage, for instance Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland all get 10GB international data roaming for free with their unlimited plans, but they have no options at all for Denmark. 
* You cannot make regular phone calls or send texts while abroad on this plan.  Only data.

Additionally, US Mobile does not offer international dialing from the US.   So their plan might work for you if
- You only communicate domestically, or
- with a complementary service like Google Voice for dialing to or within specific international destinations.

(I did the latter; Ported my main number to Google Voice and route all inbound/outbound calls on my cell phone through that.  With this I am also able to use a standard web browser+internet connection to call/text, also international.  So in a way, US Mobile + Google Voice gives you something like Google Fi, but with better cellular coverage and cheaper).

Correcto. La mía la activé desde Panamá. El proceso en la web es súper corto y sencillo.
Lo usé por aproximadamente 1 año y fue 0 problemas. 
Lo único malo es que perdí las sim card. Ojalá implementaran las e-Sim

Can i buy a data only plan to use woth my portable router?

The black SIM card which runs on the Verizon network won't work in a portable router. Only the white SIM card which is under the T-Mobile network both SIM cards are included in the Sim kit

I plan visiting us will i be able to get us number and keep my canadian one

Phone number is assigned to the SIM card. You just need to buy a new SIM card in the US and put it in your phone. If you have a dual SIM phone, like a Nokia 2 for example, you can leave your Canadian SIM in the phone and just put the new SIM card in slot #2 inside the phone. Just chose which SIM you want to use (for talk and text for example) in the options section on your cellphone. If you have a one SIM cellphone, just remove the old SIM card and put the new one in the slot.
