Would you recomend this for linear rails (eg. hiwin)?

I'm not sure what you mean by HIWIN. Or the type of linear rails you mean. If you mean sliding window frames, then you would need to know if they're aluminium. It can be used for aluminium but then again, could you get it on your clothes, if so please use a clear silicone grease. Molly grease is more suited to carCV boot drive shafts, where you can get high loads and heat, then this grease will stay where it has been put and not run away, leaving the joint dry of grease.

Is this the same as molykote grease for laserdisc lubrication? Thanks.

TBH I`m not sure. I think that this will be too thick for you. I use it to grease the wheel bearings on my heavy duty Landrover Defender pick up, as it regularly carries large gardening stones and Oak sleepers
