Excellent rods, they adhere well, providing you clean and prepare the surface to be welded first, and prepare it correctly.if you fail with the rods, it's down to you not having cleaned or prepared the surface correctly.Don't expect a beauty contest prize for the welds, but no cast iron weld will ever look good, if you want strength ypu have to weld, if you want beauty you braze, but that is weaker than welding.you can always clean up the welds with a grinder though LOL (I've seen your welds, you're getting a grinder for your birthday, and an even bigger grinder for christmas)That said, the welds with these rods are strong, but it's all down to how you prepare it. Clean, degrease, bevel, and you'll get a good strong weld. Don't do the previous, and your weld will failohhh, yes, preheat the work piece, to a cherry Red, and allow to cool SLOWLY, preferably covering in sand, faI lure to do either will usually result in cracks, unless you do small bead welds instead of longer runs.all in all a good rofm not too expensive and gives good results but advised to weld with cast outside of with good extraction, as fuming is heavy

there was no cracking on cooling and they made a good strong repair
Very impressed - used for cast iron railings and also some cast steel. It was very successful, the metal flowed well, there was no cracking on cooling and they made a good strong repair. I used around 90 amps - this gave good penetration of the weld. i would highly recommend these electrodes.

Verry hard to get the arc going
These are hard to get the arc started , and once started hard to maintain the arc , Theey cut out weld uneaven , even though the weld is weaved , I have used other rods , and they worked a lot better than this brand , but i guess they do work and are cheap

delivery etc good. Having recently welded stainless for the first time ...
Only rated as three star as I have not had time to use them yet but delivery and but appearances ,delivery etc good.Having recently welded stainless for the first time first time recently I am looking forward to the challenge of cast iron.I am aware of the need to heat the cast iron prior to welding and only when I try this can I truly comment on the product but at this stage I am hopeful even as an infrequent hobby welder.
