Sellstrom Advantage Series Face Shield - Lightweight, High Impact, Uncoated Polycarbonate Clear Tint Window with Oversized Crown & Chinguard, Adjustable Ratchet Headgear, for Grinding, Cutting - CSA Z94.3

I bought several face shields, including the "upgraded" more expensive version of this model, and this is the ONLY one that will fit over a respirator with actual chemical cartridges in place (the bayonet style by 3M, which are much larger than the circular dust cartridges). The shield itself is somewhat floppy, non-formed plastic. It relies on the headpiece to hold it in shape. But it's the exact same polycarbonate (Lexan) plastic as every other face shield. This "loose" shape means it fits wider - allowing it to cover a respirator easily, and not obstruct vision in ANY way, even peripheral. It's hands down the most comfortable one I tried, far better than others costing twice as much.

I had bought a super cheap basic face shield to try it out for Covid-19 protection while out and about (civilian purposes, I'm not a medical worker), and I liked the concept but I work outdoors, and in the summer heat it was a real negative to not really be able to wipe sweat out of your eyes without taking the shield completely off. Also the mechanism for holding it on your head isn't ideal. So I found this and it's a great and economical upgrade. It features a dial-adjustment to fine-tune the fit, and it easily flips up out of the way when not immediately needed (you may need to tighten the dials on each side to get it to stay up). If you spend a lot of time outdoors, an important bonus is that this face shield is UV-protective--I searched high and low for this information and even called Sellstrom, eventually was able to confirm it. Apparently some people who order it receive one with a chin guard and others don't. Mine has a chin guard. I would prefer to detach it, and it looks like it should be detachable, but so far I haven't been able to do it. When I came to write this review, the listing says it's out of stock, so hopefully it will become available again.

I still like this face shield, but after using it with no issues for five months, I had two things come up. I use acetone occasionally for fiberglass work and clean up in an industrial squirt bottle. I sprayed some on a paper towel near the face shield, and it left fogged spots on it wherever the acetone landed. So beware of that. Second item was that I dropped it once on a steel piece I was grinding on, and it punched a small hole in the shield just from that impact. The impact may have been directly on one of the fogged up areas, I can't be sure, but I was certainly surprised by the result. Other than those issues, it is comfortable to wear and easily adjusted.

bought it for not only grinding, soldering, and anything else that creates small bits that will get in one's eyes, but also for covid protection. it's well built and looks like it will last years with good handling.

Love the construction, adjustable headband, but the face shield came with only on side protected and the inside is all scratched and scuffed so much that I can't see clearly. I did order another one and the same thing. But as I was getting ready to send back, I said, let me look again. My big fat fingers couldn't find the protective plastic, so I took a xacto knife and found. So sorry. Change my review to 5 stars. MY mistake. I would suggest that you have a printing on the inside as well so you know its there. It definitely is hard to remove than the outside one. Thank you and again my apology.

Just received and used a couple times. I purchased this for two reasons. One reason was to use it in my shop. Second reason was to use it instead of a face mask. I am not a facemask believer, however I did purchase this item to get me into the places necessary for my survival. I found a lot of virtue signal or‘s asked me where I purchased the mask. I will update my review after I’ve use this for a while. UPDATE: I Just notices this document inside the box. I will add a photo. This mask smells bad of plastic. Hopefully it will dissipate. I am concerned about the cancer warning document.

PRO: 1: if you go into it knowing the CONS below then go for it. CONS: 2: Short lenght. does not cover toward mouth. 3: the plastic on bottom destracts from field of vision. 4: curve on clear plastic feels to close to face. 5: cheaply made. feels like it will fall apart at any minute 6: photo look better. im thinking of sitting on it to reshape it.. came in a envelope and packages must have been tossed ontop of it in shipping. 7: distortion in looking through it.

There was a protective film on both sides of the face plate that needed to be peeled, but one side was difficult to start/ find. After that, the face plate was very clear. None of the face plate replacements I found come pre-drilled with the three holes needed to fit the chin guard; you will have to drill those yourself. Other than that it looks like a good face shield.

Good quality .. will need more of these for the shop

Only complaint is the blue protective layer was difficult to remove from the jointing sections

The main unsatisfying part is the band that goes on around the top of the head is practically useless as my head still isn’t tall enough when it’s on the tightest setting. The band that goes around my head is really the only thing holding it in place and it tends to displace my glasses I’ve got on as it slips lower and lower after a while.
