It's expensive but it really works! OK on bare skin, but they do a softer version if that might annoy you. IMHO this version is more effective and more robust, for me it is a keeper!

I saw a demonstration video of this mat online and was impressed by the way sand falls through the mesh and doesn't come back up. I purchased this for friends of mine who like to frequent the beach, but the sand can aggravate their children's sensitive skin. I thought the mat would give a reprieve and refuge from the sand when being dusted down. Not only that, but it meant the kids had a sand-free place to eat, which meant their sandwiches were sand-free.I was a little skeptical, but I purchased it in the hope that the videos were true. My friends tried it immediately and were so pleased with the fact that it did what it said it would. I also tried it and was impressed with it. I purchased the orange one which was an advantage on a busy beach as the colour and size of it was easily spotted from a distance.It is worth noting that it only sieves dry sand. Wet sand will get stuck in the mesh until it dries. As it happens, it was designed for helicopters landing in the dessert on dry sand. That being said, on a warm day, wet sand dries quickly and as soon as it is dry, it falls through the mesh with ease.It is a pricey bit of kit but it is intricately made, does what it says it will do, is a generous size and comes with rings to hold it down with pegs.

Brilliant beach mat!!!!!. Passers by were stopping and asking about it. Could walk across the mat with sandy feet knowing the the sand would fall through and keep the area clean. Love it and will enjoy relaxing of the beach more because of it. Keep it dry and it does its job. FYI if it gets massively wet (like the tide sneaks up on you), the wet sand gets stuck until it dries. This makes an extremely heavy load of excess sand to carry away from the beach. Then you let it dry and shake the sand out. Lesson learned.

I am going to be one of those annoying reviewers where I haven't actually used this item on holiday as it is too big for our suitcase but the idea of it is great and if you do a lot of camping / beach activities I would recommend it.

We are really pleased with this product. Medium is perfect size for the two of us, with folding chair and folding sunbed, table and still room for more! Fabulous quality. Well worth the money.

This (6'x6') is our second Cgear sand mat bought for this summer for beach life back home. The other (known as Matt) is larger at 8'x8' and is truly brilliant but it lives in Barbados (with a carer) where it has been used for years (it is on the bulkier side for packing in a case, so it happily live there awaiting our return). It absolutely does the business and keeps sand where it should be.....worth every penny!

Having looked at other products claiming to do the same thing, only to read the reviews indicating they clearly done, I decided to pay the extra and get this, the original 'sand-free' mat and how glad I am!!Used it for two weeks holiday earlier this month and am so happy with it.Don't waste money on cheap alternatives that DO NOT stop the sand passing through it, you will not regret buying this mat.(Does take up quite a bit of space in your suitcase mind you)

Excellent product, used this on Fistral Beach and my wife was able to put her very expensive camera down without worrying that there would be sand on the rug. We're calling it the magic carpet.

We’ve had this for a few years now, love it. It’s great. Extremely durable, once sand dries it works as advertised. Zero complaints from a long term user.

Just took this camping on Lake McConoughey, where it's all fine sand. We put this outside our camper, and the 6x6 size is the perfect size for walking in and out. It works so well, whisking the sand off your feet. You can even see the diminshing footsteps as you walk across it. Wet feet will still hold sand, but this was a great addition to our camper. Totally worth the price. Other items I came across were just large towels, but this is a mat designed to let sand fall through. This would be good for picnics, camping, or other outdoor activites. It rolls up easily, and the sand shakes right off so there's no cleaning involved.

Its been a while since I purchased this mat. This camping trip is my first time using it and I love it! It is working great for allowing water to pass through from rain, keeping the camper cleaner, and does allow sand through. I just sweep it off to remove stones, leaves etc. I can walk outside with my dog in my socks.. a win win at the campground!I would buy this again for sure. You can use the rings on the edge to stake it down, but I didnt need that this time around.
