Purchased for navigation by GPS for offroad routes - REVISED RATING
Revised to improved rating from 2 starts to 4 after help from map app customer service and a trip to the Black Hills in SD:1. Avenza customer support was able to help me adjust settings on both the tablet and within the app to resolve the navigation issues I had with the app.- For navigation, I have Avenza, Onx, and Polaris Ride Command on this tablet. But have only used Avenza so far.2. Toggle between apps is clunky - you go back to the main screen each time and have to re-open the app you want.3. For ruggedness - I am impressed (this is why 4 stars). I did drop it on the first day out, from height of about 3 feet onto a sloped and gravel driveway where it hit and slid 2-3 feet with no damage. It also handled LOTS of dust, temps in the 90s plus cab heat, and bouncing around for 5 days of riding. We aren't rock crawlers, but took some trails with lots of rocks to clear / navigate and this thing handled it all like a champ. For comparison, my phone and another in our group overheated one day.Original comments:I bought this tablet for the size and ruggedness advertised for dirt, water and drop with the intention of using only the GPS function for offroad navigation. After about 5 days, here are the positives:The cover definitely seems rugged and the size is perfect for mounting on the dash of my UTV (with accessory for that, of course).I connected to wifi, loaded the map app I wanted, several maps from within the app, and Pandora app with no issues. These are the only functions I want/expect out of this tablet. It also has Google services - Gmail, Maps, etc which is nice for when I am connected to wifi.On a test drive, GPS tracked as it should based on the product specs, without cellular signal, on the appropriate road/map within the app.The negatives:The location dot on the map would not point in any direction other than north within the offline map app. In google maps it attempts to show a direction but is not accurate. This is not my preference but would be okay for roads. This is not okay for trails/offroad locations we intend to travel.I read several articles, checked all the settings multiple times, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, lost location entirely for a time, rebooted and then recalibrated the location several times to finally correct that, but have not been able to correct the direction issue. I did find some online comments that Android 12 doesn't play nice with GPS. The same app works fine on my phone with Android 13.I am reaching out to customer support from the app but this is looking like a $200 mistake so far.The home screen is a little slow to load but tolerable. The next step up model, with more memory, was too big for the space I have to mount on my dash.

Works well as GPS
I use this for GPS, running Gaia, on my motorcycle. The GPS is accurate and keeps up in reatime without issue. Tablet is a bit slow to open or load. Video plays well on wifi. Have not tested over network or for game (GPS is it's only purpose for me). The camera sucks. It does not focus properly (I did test this before mounting it to the bike!). Works well for my needs but there are definitely better tablets out there.

Defective Devices
I was in the market to replace a fleet of aging Samsung TABA tablets for my field techs. I purchased one as a test - it would not stay connected to any network, SIMS, or Wi-fi. Contacted Amazon support and they sent me another one. It was the same - different SIMS card and Wi-Fi network, but the same results. You have to reboot each time for the networks to connect, but if the tablet goes to sleep - everything disconnects. As far a battery life goes, both units drained from full charge to dead by morning - so much for standby. Additionally, after every reboot - it shows the SD card missing! Having both tablets brand new acting the exact same way - its clear the devices are defective.

New to Android, so far so good.
This is my first "mobile" device. Yes, I don't even have a "smartphone"-shocking, I know. I use this as a "electronic" map book on my motorcycle. Didn't want to spend the crazy money for a "dedicated" motorcycle GPS or even a "smartphone" as those have more features than I would ever need or use. I just needed a device that can display PDFs (that I download from the states/areas I travel) and be able to zoom in and out clearly as necessary. So far this is fitting the bill perfectly. It is a little on the heavy side-I think holding this for any length of time to watch a movie or read a book may become fatiguing. The case is well armored and the screen is responsive-at least from what I have asked of it. I watched so YouTube vids just to see and the picture quality is clear and smooth-daylight visibility is very good but does wash out a little in direct sun especially when looking at a white background map-simple twist of the head to throw a shadow solves that issue without problem. I'm still learning how to navigate the Android system, but this is by far the most cost effective solution for a "electronic map book".

Not totally waterproof
My daughter left the door to the charging port open and dropped it very briefly in the bath and it's been totally dead since then. I'm sure with that port closed, it's fine, but I didn't see this called out anywhere.
