Resistance: Fall of Man (UK/Sticker)

This was one of the games I wanted to play after getting a PS3 after playing it round a friends. The storyline is quite interesting as it shows earth being over-run by an alien race and focuses on them taking over England and how the americans join in to help fight them off. You play an american who comes with aid and then get infected with a virus. The graphics are not uber but they are quite good and it is really about the gameplay more than spectacular graphics for this game as it was one of the earlier releases and so didn't make full of the PS engine much like many other games of the time. But, I digress, the story is well scripted and there are cut scenes added in to give more atmosphere to the game. The voices are done quite well and I have found the game totally addictive so much so that I had to keep playing to complete it, and then when you do you unlock more weapons to use in replays. The game definately has reply value as there are secrets you can pick up and so any you miss you can get afterwards. One of the best aspects of the game is that you can play it with co-op so a friend can run the storyline with you and so you don't have to just solo it!There are a lot of weapons that can be gained as you progress and each one has a secondary fire option so you get different effects, there are vehicles that can be driven on some levels which is fun and gives a bit of variety.I have played it on medium difficulty and some of the levels are very challenging which is great as some FPS are too easy to run through on this difficulty. Some people have moaned about the game being too easy or too hard but I feel the balance is just about right, and there is a checkpoint system so if you do die, you don't have to trudge through the whole level again.This game is definately worth a buy at this price and you wont be dissapointed as it has a lot to give, I have bought the second and will be getting into that very shortly :)There are also multiplayer maps free from the playstation store and the online element is very fun, you can play as human or alien. my goodness is this game frustrating and brutel. its a good game but i didnt complete it the 1st time, gave up on it the 1st time round and then when i got a ps3 again and re-baught this again almost 10 years later elsewhere (by goodness i got this on amazon 10 years ago and im now only just getting round to doing a review)anyway i managed to beat it and i love how where it ends is where it begins on the second one, i love games like that.the second one is 200% better so after you grind this game i higly recomend that game, i recomend this game too but it is hard .the third one is ok just has a very disappointing ending (almost as bad at kane and lynch 2 where it just abruptly ends)this games kind of a throw back to nes games, hard as nails but rewarding, i played nes games and found them to be hard to beat but fun (TMNT i mean) so i guess compared to nes games this is easy.

Resistance: Fall of Man is a FPS created in 2006 by Insomniac games, the makers of Spyro The Dragon and Ratchet and Clank. It is set in an alternate 1950's where you follow Sergeant Nathan Hale as he and the human resistance forces attempt to drive a mysterious and alien virus, known as the 'Chimeran Virus', out of Britain.Insomniac games is known for its creative and exotic weapon selection, and the Resistance series is no different. Each weapon in the game provides a unique play style and strategy; an excellent example would be the Auger, a gun of Chimeran origin. The Auger's primary fire is your simple rapid fire rounds, but the bullets have the ability to pass through walls and structures, actually coming out stronger on the other side, thus opening up brand new strategies unavailable in your typical FPS. The secondary fire on the other hand, creates a shield impervious to all bullets except its own. In addition to the usual short and long ranged weapons, you also have access to several different types of grenades, both of historical and futuristic varieties.The game's narrative tells the story of protagonist Nathan Hale, on his way to retrieve a secret weapon that the British claim can be used against the Chimera in exchange for supplies. However, soon after landing in York, Hale and his team are forced to retreat due to a Chimeran ambush. Without spoiling too much, let's just say Hale is... special. The story is told through pretty cutscenes and slideshows with a female narrator recounting the events that happened.Insomniac also added in an online multiplayer mode for up to 40 people per match, and a 4 player splitscreen offline option as well. Voice chat is supported through either a USB or Bluetooth headset.Overall, Resistance: Fall of Man is a solid first person shooter although can feel a little dated a couple of years on, but is still great fun nonetheless, both in its thrilling campaign mode and exciting online and offline multiplayer modes. R:FoM received highly positive reviews from critics, obtaining and average on 86/100 on metacritic. R:FoM was followed up by Resistance 2 a Resitance 3, both amazing games in their own right, and are experiences to look forward to after you complete Fall of Man.

Good quality disk

Para todos aquellos que les guste los juegos de shooter, este es bastante entretenido. Este fue el primer juego que usé de shooter que compré y enseguida me enganché. Lo bueno que tiene es que pueden jugar dos personas a la vez.

Inizialmente appena ho visto la custodia del gioco in versione inglese, mi sono preoccupato, ma poi avviato il gioco è partito in automatico tutto in italiano.Sono soddisfatto dell'acquisto e il gioco mi piace.Sè siete fra quelli che oltre allo sparatutto tenete anche alla trama e alla storia di un gioco, allora il gioco merita.

Veraltet, dennoch dieses Spiel hat mich dem FPS Genre näher gebracht. Man mag es kaum glauben, aber dafür ist es gut, da man von der Bewegung der Spielfigur her sehr eingeschränkt ist und man so eigentlich selten den Überblick verliert.
