Char-Broil 140587 - Premium Skewer Set and Rack, Stainless Steel, 44.7x24.5x4 cm

This was a great buy. The skewers are nice and strong and easy to clean. You can prep the food and sit them on the rack and then when ready just lift the whole thing onto the bbq. Because the skewers arent round you can then rotate them 90 degrees at a time during cooking. This means the food doesnt always just roll round to the heaviest side. The food is also kept just off the hot plate so there is no sticking.

I like this a lot. Good size flat skewers, neat rack at just the right height. Works well. Need to work out how to turn the kebabs without burning my fingers though. A bit big for my 2-burner char-broil - it overlaps the second section a bit, but I can work round that. At least the lid closes with it in situ.

To be honest, I'm a little bit disappointed in the quality. It may be because I have high expectations of a major brand such as Charbroil but I'd only rate this as a "just about meets acceptable standards for the price". In fairness, the flat skewers are of good overall quality. The disappointment comes from the design and the manufacture of the frame. Firstly manufacture: the frame buckles over the heat of the BBQ. This means that the skewers won't stay in place and flip to THEIR natural position rather than where I put them. That leads to design: the indentations that take the skewers are too shallow and so won't keep the skewers in place. I've ended up using the skewers but not the frame which completely defeats the object of paying almost £20 for the kit. I could have bought just flat skewers for a third of the price.

This fits my BBQ because that's a Char-Broil too, but I'm sure it would be good on any . The skewers are a little big in diameter for very small items, but are fine if you cut your meat and veg a little bigger. I find them easier to use than bamboo skewers, especially for sausage and chicken, but they are definitely much bigger so I'd recommend you think about what you like to cook. They have the advantage that heat travels through them and the insides of sausages etc. get cooked well. They wash easily .

Be careful when inserting meat on the skewers as they are sharp, please wear gloves when inserting meat, not happy as the skewers cut my fingers, Great product as does the job.

So everything is well made, the skewers sit on top of a rack and it's perfect for the bbq.The skewers are big though, by that I mean they are wide and not circular. The edges of the skewer are quite sharp (obviously ???) so it's easy to get a a similar cut to a paper cut.It's better for bigger pieces of meat, but I did manage fish and smaller cuts of meat.Use oven gloves or a tea towel when threading food on, this should be ample protection.Still 5 stars and happy.

Box arrived damaged, but even worse, the skewers had corrosion developed on the side wall. Unsafe to use with foods and really disappointing for a product claiming to be stainless steel.
