Excellent, inspiring book
This book was well worth the wait. It is beautfully illustrated and the patterns are clear and concise. The two main dolls have very clear instructions and I think that even a beginner could follow them although I would highly recommend that anyone making their first doll consider purchasing the Jan Horrox book where the patterns and instructions take you clearly step by step - even after many dolls I still refer back to that book constantly. However, I was interested mainly in the heads in this book and am, at the moment, working on the tooth fairy - so far so good. One thing I would say is that the fabric Terese Cato recommends is a bit obscure. The closest I can find has to be bought from America which, with postage, makes it extremely expensive. I would highly recommend that anyone making the Tooth Fairy or Elf checks out Jan Horrox's site for an alternative fabric - this is what I have done and, on her advice, am going to try it with craft velour to see how it works. Despite this problem I am very impressed with the book and extremely grateful to my daughter for the late Christmas present.

Wonderful book!
This book is full of beautiful Dolls. The instructions to make the dolls are very clear and the patterns easy to follow.I have bought many Cloth Doll books and this is up there with the best. Terese has shown us how to make some fun Dolls , her Tooth Fairy is beautiful and bound to appeal to any youngster , I love the thought that it could be kept in a box for future generations , a great idea. As soon as I saw her I wanted to make the Housewife Fairy.i have made many Dolls and its hard to find a book that contains some different ideas but this book was full of surprises. I think it would suit Doll Makers of all levels as the instructions and detailed photos of each stage of making the Dolls are very clear. If you are new to Doll making I am sure this book will inspire you.

A really useful (and inspirational) book
This was well worth waiting for: not just for doll addicts, but the book is full of interesting and accessible information for anyone who wants to stretch their needlework art into three dimensions. Some books on soft sculpture are beautiful, but awe-inspiring; Ms Cato sensibly sticks to three models of fantasy doll, gives clear instructions, patterns and suggestions, adds a multitude of clever tips, and then shows a gallery of different interpretations to spark one's imagination. I defy anyone not to grin at some of the finished dolls - they are such fun.I learned a lot just reading it through - now, where did I put my water-colour pencils...

Sheer delight
I've been collecting books on cloth doll making for the last couple of years after stumbling upon them purely by mistake. I was intrigued and sent for my first book by Jan Horrox - Introduction To Making Cloth Dolls -and have been enjoying making them ever since. Fanciful Cloth Dolls is delightful and will be a great addition to anyone's collection. Patterns are ready to copy in full size and directions are clear and easy to follow. I'm currently making The Tooth Fairy and loving it.

A new doll dimension
I have recently started to make dolls and this book is definitely different to many others on the market. Lots of fun doll ideas - fun and quirky. Saw this book on another site at twice the price so although more than I would normally pay was worth it.

Fanciful Cloth Dolls
what a FANTASTIC book this is. Have been wanting to make dolls forever but never as yet found the kind that appeared easy? Apart from 'Rag Dolls' which isn't what I was looking for. This book carries the templates and step by step guide to completing these dolls.

Easy to follow; fun to make
This book offers simple techniques that result in (fairly) easy to achieve dolls. The range of dolls is wide and there are lots of ideas to inspire more individual work. Easy to follow; fun to make - what's not to like?

Terese's instructions are always clear
The second that I saw that Terese had written another cloth doll book, I ordered it and she doesn't disappoint. Her instructions are very easy to follow, and I like all of the dolls in this book. I think my absolute favorite are the pin cushion girls though. Basic doll making techniques are included, although if you are new to cloth doll making I highly recommend Terese's first book as a starting point. There are four dolls in this book, but the potential for much more with the basic patterns, the great instructions and the commentary on the galleries. I do love that in her galleries, she speaks a little to how the dolls were made. If different patterns or techniques were used, she gives brief descriptions of those. It is so annoying to me to look at doll galleries and not know what patterns were used or have a brief description of a technique.I am going to have to alter the pantaloon pattern for the fairy because I don't like the way pants look on dolls if you just sew a 'U' between there legs. That's just one of my pet peeves though because you cannot see this portion of the pantaloons when the doll is dressed.I am a huge fan of Terese's as a result of learning cloth doll making techniques from her first book. I hope there are more great doll ideas to come from her. If you like the dolls on the back and front covers, you really can't go wrong in purchasing this book.
