Buy Bubble Gum Brain: Ready, Get Mindset...Grow! Illustrated by Cook, Julia, Valentine, Allison (ISBN: 9781937870430) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Lovely discussion points ages 6-9 - I have bought this based on a recommendation given to me. my kids loved it - I read it to them and also they like to read bits and bobs themselves ( which is impressive considering my y1 kiddo is not normally one to pick up things to read). The messaging is clear and the drawings are expressing the text very beautifully. It prompted lots of discussions that the kids initiated themselves. I think we spent about 10 minutes on the first page alone, and they love coming back to this. I have noticed a slight shift in my kids attitude to mistakes and "learning" in that they say they are making their brain into bubblegum. Review: But actually she loved it, didn't seem to find it too young - I bought this book not knowing if it would be too silly/obvious for my 9yo DD who is very bright, very fixed mindset, very likely to see through such tools. But actually she loved it, didn't seem to find it too young, got the message, and then spent the whole of tea time explaining it to her 6yo brother. Too early to see if it sinks in, but she was very tickled with it. I have other books by the same author that haven't quite hit home in the same way.

There's not many kid's books that deal with the growth mindset head on like this. It could be a lot better but it's all we have. A must buy based on that.

The book is beautiful and explains in a simple way how it feels/looks when you have either a fixed or a growth mindset. Through comparison, kids can easily see in the book which one is which and how to migrate from fixed to growth. Loved it. My son loved it too – 6-7 Y old.

I absolutely LOVE this book both for teaching my Grade 2 classroom about growth mindset but also for teaching my own boys at home. This book explains the difference between a growth and fixed mindset in a way that is easy for kids to understand. Even my 13 year old son listened while I read this to my 7 year old son! The information in this book is insightful and important for kids to build resiliency. I use this for my Grade 2 healthy living unit in the classroom. I love the analogy of the bubble gum and the wrapper. This is a must buy!

The way bubble gum and brick brain is written about is a good way to explain to kids to be open minded and accept mistakes and errors. Kids at 5 years and 6 years don't like mistakes (sometimes might avoid things as they know they won't get it right ) and this book helps them understand the same via bubble gum and brick brain concept. Good book especially for kids who aren't very flexible.
