Q: I bough this machine. I could not achieve aligning the bed correctly so far. Can anyone tell me how precise this machine?

The receiving table can be adjusted by turning the small hexagonal head screws located under the clamping levers. The feeding table is raised to the same level, a very precise rule is placed on the two tables and the screws are turned until the rule is perfectly seated. The bad thing is that this operation has to be repeated every time you go from thicknesser to jointer. I have an independent thicknesser and I use this machine only as a jointer. I think it is the best option for this machine, because as a thickenesser it works well, but the table is too small and allows little height, and the position is a little uncomfortable. The other essential adjustment is to place the blades at the exact height of the receiving table. For this purpose, the small hexagonal head screws of the knife holder blocks are used. The most accurate test is to place a ruler on the receiving table, turn the blade axis with your hand and feel how they come into contact with the ruler and move it very lightly. The same slight movement must be repeated over the entire length of each blade.

Q: On the ukworkshop forum it was said this machine can only be plugged into a mains socket, i.e. it cannot be used with an extension lead. is this true?

Yes thats true. Wouldnt want to run this sort of machine from an extension anyway - would blow the fuse. I tried to run it from my shop vac which can sort of act as an extension (plug a drill in or something similar and vac will turn on only when tool in use). P/T blew it on the second go, learnt my lesson and had to replace the fuse.
