Q: I would like trubass 88's for my short scale but in a .45 - 100 Do they make them and where can I get them? I'm a 53 year Bass Pro!

Sorry - the only make trubass in 65-115. Due to the strings being nylon Rotosound say they need to be heavier otherwise they would become to flappy.Hope that helpsPaul

Hi there,You're in luck as you've come to the right man to ask! I own a short scale bass that is a 30", and I have loaded it with these strings, with GREAT results. Rotosound make a set of these for a short scale, which I'm sorry to say we don't stock, but you can find them on-line elsewhere. I would advise caution however, as they are quite a heavy gauge for a short scale, and I had to re-cut the nut slots as the bass I have was loaded with a set of .040 - .095. I own 2 short scale basses and have always previously preferred to stick with the lighter gauge, as they are really optimum for a short scale. I decided to try these on my bass that isn't vintage, just in case the tension was too much, but luckily I have only needed to adjust the nut and saddles, and not the truss rod. I can't however promise that it would be that simple for you as I am not familiar with the Gretsch bass personally. The Rotosound website has some great info on these strings and also tells you who uses them, so you will have a good idea of how they sound recorded albeit on different basses. Previousyy I used Rotosound swing bass for all my basses, recently bought Tru Bass strings for my jazz, wish I'd tried them years ago wont go back to steel wounds now , got the sound i wanted for years almost an upright bass sound, warm,deep,but not dull , cant say more then that, as for short scale i suggest trying a set of Rotosound Solo strings (short scale ) these are metal but pressure wound almost flat sound great and are great for your fingers, you decide which bass to put them on, Tru bass rotos ( short scale again ) on the other and take it from there ,pretty sure you'll get some really useful tones from both sets, best of luck!
