Simple but Perfect
Exactly what I was looking for after seeing it in a restaurant in Norwich. It looks and is very simple but with the right coffee which is available on Amazon works perfectly. Great price as well.

Quick, efficient, delicious!
This little filter was delivered quickly, with good communication from seller. I bought one for myself from James some months ago, and enjoy using it every day. This second purchase was a gift for a friend - to share the phin filter love! It comes with very clear instructions and makes a perfect cup of filter coffee in minutes. This little filter is so easy to clean too - hand-wash or dishwasher. Thanks again to the company for a very pleasant buying experience and a courteous, follow-up email. Highly recommend this product and company.

Makes good coffee.
Bought on a whim after watching a YouTube video. Cheap and cheerful but makes actually quite decent coffee, but6be prepared to experiment a bit with dose and grind to suit your taste. This one (smallest) was decently finished with no sharp metal edges. Watch the dimensions though - this one is small.

Excellent Vietnamese Coffee filter
This is an excellent little contraption. Good quality and exactly the same as the ones I saw being used in Vietnam. Makes very good - and strong - coffee. It is effectively three filters. One inside the container, one on the bottom of the container and one in the little plate that holds the container on the cup. All stainless steel and no throw-away paper or plastic required. If you don't like strong coffee you can remove the inner filter I guess. This and my "Joy Revolve" stove top Moka pot are my go tos for making excellent coffee. Highly recommend this, especially for the price!

Easily one of my favourite things I've ever bought from Amazon
I wanted a way of making a decent cup of coffee whilst camping, and this both fulfils that need, and also keeps with the whole mantra of being part of nature. My first attempt was a bit of a disaster, but entirely my own fault. I used 2 desert spoons of finely ground coffee, tamped it down and followed the instructions. After waiting nearly 5 minutes, I was presented with a drink that was so strong it could've competed in the olympics. Drinking it made me feel like toddler that had been given a red bull. I needed to try again (after waiting for the effects to wear off). The instructions state that traditional Vietnamese coffee is made with condensed milk. So I fought my way through the growling toilet roll grabbing hordes in Tesco, and bought a can. This time, I also took the coffee dosage down to about 2 teaspoons, and used a coarser grind. Much better this time around, although the addition of the condensed milk made it sweeter than a bag of puppies dipped in honey. I can see how some may like the taste, but this one isn't for me. I've now arrived at a happy medium (like a well-paid clairvoyant). Sticking to the 2 teaspoons of coarse grind, along with normal milk, it makes the perfect cup for me. It's not bitter like French press can be, and tastes very well-rounded. This thing takes an age to make a coffee, but in a good way. It forces you to slow down. To enjoy the act of making the drink. It's very cathartic. Highly recommended if you like your coffee, but also like to relax and take in life for a while.

Works like a Charm
I do have a smaller Phin I've previously been using so I kind of know how to get the best out of them but I wanted a much larger one to fill my Coffee Bucket in the mornings. For my first attempt in this larger Phin I used genuine Vietnamese coffee which as I've reviewed elsewhere is a tad chocolatey and has quite dense thick grounds. The first brew took ages to drip through, a problem if had with this coffee with my smaller Phin, so for my next attempt I used two very heaped teaspoons of my regular grounds and it was spot on. Took just over five minutes and e result was a great mug of coffee. One thing I've found is don't be tempted to compress the grounds with the gravity plunger just let it rest on top otherwise you can both block the filter holes and make the coffee too compact so it takes forever to drip through. Use a glass cup if you can, watching the drips is hypnotic. Also, I would suggest you really can't use these Phin's without trying the genuine Vietnamese experience, put condensed milk in your cup/mug first, absolutely delicious. All in all, yep give it a go, makes great coffee once you get the hang of it which isn't hard and the Phin is easy to clean up afterwards.

I couldn't use this to make a decent cup of coffee, but maybe that's just me.
It appears to be a robust relatively well made device and it wasn't hard to clean: they're the positive things that I could find about it. I tried, honestly I did: I filled it with my usual coffee, I popped the thing over my usual mug and realised that, because the protuding lugs are at the top of the unit the thing was suspended deep into my mug. I then tried to use the separate drip tray thing to raise the unit on my mug, the thing now leaked over the top of the mug. So, plan B: get a bigger mug and dispense with the drip tray - it worked except for the fact that it took so long for the coffee to drain through it was stone cold by the time I got to drink it. I'd charity shop it except that I'd feel uneasy about foisting it on someone else. Oh well. Update: I have unexpectedly been offered a full refund, I really thought that my experince was "just one of those things" we all buy something that just doen't work for us. So, based on exemplary after sales customer care I think I should really upgrade my overall rating from 2 to 3. 6 out of 5 for customer service though.

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Kleine Kaffeemaschine/Filter - Kaffeezeremonie
Für mich die kleinste Kaffeemaschine der Welt, die in jeden Rucksack passt. Mit gutem Filterkaffee, auch vietnamesischen Kaffee, eine entspannende Kaffeezeremonie.
