HILLARIOUS!!
What a great film this was. I still don't know how this managed to slip under the radar and not get more recognition than it did with do many famous faces in it. A bit gruesome but in a funny way

Brilliant. Dark, Humorous.
I had been eagerly awaiting this to go on DVD having not been able to find a cinema to see it at. Yesterday I ordered it and I've just finished watching it now. Brilliant. Dark yet humorous. Carlyle and Thomson, in fact all the actors are superb. I had deliberately avoided anything that would tell me much about what the film was about. Though I had a loose idea.I don't want to give any of it away. Will just say watch it and you will be telling all your friends to watch it too. I really don't mind buying the odd DVD. I was not disappointed.Great directorial debute for Carlyle... Kudos :)

Dark, Delicious and Hysterically Funny!
Fresh, funny and original. Deliciously dark comedy written by actor Robert Carlyle who stars. This is a gem. All the performances are amazing, from Ray Winstone's pissed off cop investigating a serial killer who posts body parts, to Emma Thompson, absolutely brilliant as Carlyle's mum. IT'S MY BINGO NIGHT!!! One of the best lines.I LOVE IT!!!!

Unapologetic macabre comedy.
Love the dark humor! If you like Tarrantino or Tim Burton movies you'll enjoy this! Emma Thompson is the most amazing female character actor. Here she is a study in grotesque! Carlyle is the unlikely anti-hero you can't help rooting for and a brilliant director.

The batteries on my universal remote are juiced out so I had to sit through the entirety of The Legend of Barney Thomson without being able to fast forward through any of it.Some good acting - Robert Carlyle is good value for money as you'd expect. Emma Thompson reprises her Scottish accent (last heard in Tutti Frutti [DVD] [1987]) and still sounds maybe 93% Scottish. Ray Winstone's appearance is interesting - East London meets East End of Glasgow - could have been a bit of an Eastenders vibe but it works. So there's a lot to like here, but for me this isn't cinema. It would have worked way better as a miniseries - with a chance to build up the characterisation and the let the macabre stuff emerge. As it is, over the running time of the film, things feel rushed while (paradoxically) the pace feels slow,All in all, worth a watch.
